How Does It Feel

Doesn’t lead me back to spring
I just have one thing
I’m dying
To let you know
How does it feel
To know you are
You’re the only one
Well isn’t it always something
To be allowed in grace
To live in what you do
Not what you say
How does it feel
To know you are
I can feel it in the trust
You’re the only one
I should say thank you
How does it feel
To know who you are
You’re the only one
The Sarah Fimm's song "How Does It Feel" is a delicate and introspective piece that revolves around the idea of finding one's sense of purpose in life, and how difficult it can be to hold onto it. The opening lines speak of taking the road less traveled, which is a metaphor for a life that is not conventional or predictable. The implication here is that such a life may not necessarily lead to happiness or contentment, and the singer is aware of this possibility. She says that if this is truly the case, she has just one thing to say before she dies – she wants to let someone know how she feels.
The chorus of the song is the central motif that repeats throughout, as if to emphasize the importance of the sentiment. It asks a question that is both rhetorical and profound: "How does it feel to know you are?" This can be interpreted in different ways, but it essentially means to know what your purpose is in life, or to find a sense of identity that is rooted in something more meaningful than just material or external things. The lyrics suggest that it is possible to sense this when you trust someone completely, when you have found the only one who truly understands and accepts you for who you are. It is an expression of gratitude and appreciation for finding that sense of purpose in life.
The second verse of the song explores the idea of grace, which is the quality of being able to accept things as they are, without wanting them to be any different. The singer acknowledges that it's always something to be allowed to live in grace, to be able to do what you truly love without thinking too much about the consequences. It's not enough to just say something, but to actually do it, to live in the moment and make the most of every opportunity.
