Sarah Fimm Lyrics

Laughing at me from behind the wall
I hear footsteps by the door
But I can’t answer
All is not in vain
And I once had a dream
That we were paid in dust and miracles
All is full of trust
And all is waking up
Seek not to self-destruct
We can be more than what we are
If we choose to
Laughing are the faces that I see
There’s more than what was once behind me
If I can cherish my belief that we are made of
More than what we know
All is not in vain
Then the devil grew his wings
This angel came and said to him
All things come that only fade away
Yet all is possible
All is full of trust
And all is waking up
Seek not to self-destruct
We can be more than what we are
If we choose to
The lyrics of Sarah Fimm's song "Violet" are intriguingly poetic and imaginative, steeped in mythical and spiritual undertones. The opening lines convey a sense of menace and dread, as the singer speaks of seeing the devil in his swing, laughing at her from behind a wall, and hearing footsteps by the door that she cannot answer. Despite this ominous atmosphere, she insists that "all is not in vain," suggesting that there is some hope or purpose to the struggles and challenges she is facing.
The second stanza shifts to a more hopeful and fantastical tone, as the singer recalls a dream she had in which "we were paid in dust and miracles." This phrase is rich with symbolism, suggesting a paradoxical blend of ephemeral and eternal elements that define human experience. The following lines reinforce this notion of the transcendent and transformative power of belief and trust, urging the listener to "seek not to self-destruct" and to embrace the potential for growth and evolution that lies within us all.
The final stanza contains some of the most enigmatic and evocative imagery of the song, as an angel appears to the devil (who has grown wings) and speaks of the impermanence of all things, yet also the possibility of transformation and renewal. These lines encapsulate the paradox at the heart of the song's message: that even in the face of darkness and uncertainty, we can find meaning and purpose by embracing the fleeting and fragile beauty of life.
