Virus
Sarah Fimm Lyrics

Pacing back and forth with nothing in between
The devastated girl has given up.
The boy has fallen to the feet of luck,
But tells her with a slight smile
It's just a virus
She laid on him
And I can't touch it
And its all for nothing
This web of you
Is just a cycle of abuse.
Since you said its fine I might believe.
Dirty girls are easy to deceive
A penny for your thoughts
Or just to take your clothes off
I'd rather dull the pain
Than stand out in the rain
To catch the Virus
That seems to be
The undercurrent of my insanity
The lowest layer that has been fused
Beneath my cycle of abuse
It's just a virus
He says to me
It's not quite the prison you make it out to be
Too bad you're dying, too bad but true
As is this cycle of you.
The song "Virus" by Sarah Fimm starts off with a description of a girl who is lost in her own thoughts and has given up. She paces back and forth with nothing in between. The boy who is with her tells her that what she is experiencing is just a virus that has been implanted in her by someone else. It's buried deep within her and he cannot touch it. The girl is trapped in a cycle of abuse that she cannot break free from.
The lyrics then shift to the perspective of the singer who is also caught in a similar cycle of abuse. She talks about how she would rather dull the pain than stand out in the rain trying to catch the virus that seems to be the undercurrent of her insanity. The lowest layer of this cycle has been fused beneath her. The singer's lover tells her that it's not quite the prison she makes it out to be, but it's too late for her to break free. The cycle of abuse has taken control of her life, and she is helpless to stop it.
