Sarah was given the lead role in ABS-CBN's top and highest rating primetime soap opera, Bituing Walang Ningning (Lackluster Star), an adaptation of the 1985 Philippine hit movie classic. Here, she starred as aspiring singer Dorina Pineda, a role originally played by Sharon Cuneta.

Bituing Walang Ningning
Sarah Geronimo Lyrics

Kung minsan ang pangarap
Habang buhay itong hinahanap
Bakit nga ba nakapagtataka
pag ito ay nakamtan mo na
Bakit may kulang pa
[2nd stanza]
Kapag tayong dalawa'y naging isa
Kahit na isang laksang bituin
di kayang pantayan ating ningning
[refrain]
Balutin mo ako ng hiwaga ng iyong pagmamahal
Hayaang matakpan ang kinang na di magtatagal
Mabuti pa kaya'y maging bituing walang ningning
Kung kapalit nito'y walang paglaho mong pagtingin
[repeat 2nd stanza]
[repeat refrain]
The song Bituing Walang Ningning by Sarah Geronimo is a powerful and insightful exploration of the meaning of success, fame, and true love. The first stanza of the song asks why, even after achieving one's dreams, there is still a feeling of emptiness and longing. The second stanza reflects on the singer's own experiences of chasing success and fame, but realizing that true happiness can only be found in the arms of one's beloved. The refrain speaks of the transformative power of love, suggesting that it can turn even a powerful star into a humble and contented one.
The song is a commentary on the nature of stardom and its pitfalls. The singer recognizes that while success and fame may bring temporary happiness and satisfaction, they cannot replace the joy and fulfillment found in true love. By using the metaphor of a star, the song explores the way that fame can be a burden and a prison. However, it also suggests that love can provide a way out of this prison, allowing the star to shine more brightly and to find true happiness.
Overall, the song Bituing Walang Ningning is a powerful message about the nature of success, fame, and love. It speaks to anyone who has ever felt that their achievements were empty and lacking in meaning, and reminds us that true happiness can only be found in the arms of those we love.

Kung minsan ang pangarap
Sometimes, our dreams
Habang buhay itong hinahanap
are what we search for all our lives
Bakit nga ba nakapagtataka
But why is it surprising
pag ito ay nakamtan mo na
when we finally achieve them
Bakit may kulang pa
that there's something missing
Mga bituin aking narating
I've reached for the stars
But heaven for me is being in your embrace
Kapag tayong dalawa'y naging isa
When we become one
Kahit na isang laksang bituin
Even a thousand stars
di kayang pantayan ating ningning
can't surpass our radiance
Balutin mo ako ng hiwaga ng iyong pagmamahal
Wrap me in the mystery of your love
Hayaang matakpan ang kinang na di magtatagal
Let it cover the fleeting glimmer
Mabuti pa kaya'y maging bituing walang ningning
It's better to be a star without radiance
Kung kapalit nito'y walang paglaho mong pagtingin
If it means not losing your gaze
Hide me in the shade of your love
Limutin ang mapaglarong kinang ng tagumpay
Forget the playful sparkle of success
Now, in your arms, I am a star without radiance
Nagkukubli sa liwanag ng ating pag-ibig
Concealed in the light of our love
[repeat 2nd stanza]
[repeat refrain]
