You've Changed
Sarah Vaughan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've an awful feeling that
This thought that's been a-stealing
Through my brain
Is not to be ignored

But to really tell the truth
Though I'm not a well-known sleuth
I honestly believe
That you are bored

You've changed
That sparkle in your eye is gone
Your smile is just a careless yawn
You're breaking my heart
You've changed

You've changed
You're kisses now are so blase
You're bored with me in every way
I can't understand
You've changed

You've forgotten the words "I love you"
Each memory that we've shared
You ignore every star above you
I can't realize you've ever cared

You've changed
You're not the angel I once knew
No need to tell me that we're through

It's all over now
You've changed

Sarah is the one vocalist who was constant all the time never a dissapointed performance or recording. Makes my soul sigh and cry and feel and long for more from her.

The level of control she has over her voice is so amazing!

Carla J. Patterson

I have loved her since the first time I heard her, as a baby in the crib - my dad loved her and I heard all of her albums many times before I was 5 - I learned to scat from her and from Ella - I feel blessed to have been able to see her so many times on TV. I loved her as she got older too, and loved all of the experiments she made in music. She was an innovator and an inspiration and her voice will never be compared to anyone else's.

Paul Ostroff

One of her greatest recordings. Brava Sassy!

Wayne Brasler

This was later in Sarah's career, when she became almost operatic. It was at this point I think she moved into the genius category.

Thanks for bringing her to YOU TUBE. I love this woman's vocal style and range.

I was an adolescent when first drawn to her music...this was perhaps the second of her recordings with which I fell in love, the first being her superhuman live recording of "I'll Be Seeing You". If you haven't heard it, check it out. As with all the greatest singers, she had her strengths and weaknesses...but for sheer line and consistent vocal beauty across the years, she was unmatched.

I saw her in 1960 and again very late in her career. Her voice grew with a richness that was stunning. She sang Send in the Clowns and reached amazing highs and lows that you could feel in your body. Yes, she could bring tears to your eyes.

What a voice and what a song ..... brilliant! Just started playing this (on piano) with my 82 year old father playing lead on alto. We play it a little faster but still at ballad pace. Will perform it at our next restaurant gig.

I'm not a fan of Sarah Vaughan, but this is amazing.
