Hadad was born in Hadera, Israel. Her real name is Sara Hodedatov (שרה חודדטוב). She comes from a musical family.
Since she was 8 years old she started giving performances at a local club as a child prodigy playing classical music on the piano. She didn't tell her parents, and when they found out two years later the performances were over. In that period she taught herself to play the organ, guitar, accordion and darbuka among others.
When she was 15 she joined the Hadera Youth Band. This was the first step to her solo career, during which many of her songs topped the Israeli charts. Israeli Television selected her to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song Light a candle. There were some requests to disqualify this song because of the political situation in Israel, but Eurovision has no rules requiring such disqualification. Her final result was 12th place.
Sarit Hadad has been a student at the Democratic School of Hadera.

Sarit Hadad Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of "בחום של תל אביב" (“In the heat of Tel Aviv”) describe the experiences of the singer as she takes a ride in a Mercedes car in Tel Aviv. In the beginning, she describes the transformation of the surroundings with the addition of the Mercedes car. The new order reveals life through a pair of half eyes staring through the glasses. As the singer gets into the car, she pulls out a cigarette from her purse and comes up with a sharp sentence in her head, and she wonders what to wear to the party that awaits her.
As the song progresses, the singer describes her journey on the fast highway with dimmed headlights, and it features her response to the kind of people she comes across while travelling- complicated people. She wants some rest and leaves alone, and as she leaves, she comes across a boy with colourful hair, who she had met before, and was now a serious businessman.
The lyrics of "בחום של תל אביב" describe the various facets of Tel Aviv that the singer sees and the people she interacts with along the way. However, beneath the song's seemingly light-hearted exterior lies a deeper message about the fleeting and everchanging nature of life, as reflected by the shifting scenery around her.
