Sash! caused an unexpected stir in the music world when they became one of only a handful of dance acts that managed to sell millions of albums and singles thus becoming a huge commercial success at the end of the 1990's.
All of the first 5 singles all reached the UK Top 3: Encore Une Fois reached Number 2 in March 1997, Ecuador number 2 in July 1997, Stay number 2 in October 1997, La Primavera number 3 in April 1998 and Mysterious Times number 2 August 1998.
Adelante was the final big single when it reached number 2 in Feburary 2000.
In 2002 came out "Ganbareh" ,a big single for the World Cup in Korea/Japan...which music was inspired of traditional organs and the wellknown beat of Sash! .
Hoopstar
Sash! Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There's a way to the meadow,
You gotta get to the run,
Don't go overboard,
To get to the top.
Don't go overboard,
Don't be a hoopstar,
Don't be a hoopstar,
Don't be a hoopstar,
Don't be a hoopstar.
The lyrics to Sash!'s song Hoopstar might seem a little confusing at first, but with closer analysis, they reveal a deeper message. The opening line "There's a way to the meadow," implies that there is a path to success or happiness that one should follow. However, the next line "You gotta get to the run," suggests that this success will only be achieved through hard work and persistence. The phrase "Don't go overboard" is repeated twice, implying that one should not become too obsessed or consumed with achieving success, but instead maintain balance and focus on the journey rather than just the destination.
The chorus "Don't be a hoopstar" reinforces this idea of avoiding excess and remaining grounded. A hoopstar, in this context, is someone who becomes too focused on achieving fame or material success at the expense of their morals or well-being. The repetition of this phrase serves as a reminder to the listener to stay true to themselves and not get lost in the pursuit of external validation.
Overall, the lyrics of Hoopstar encourage listeners to strive for success while remaining grounded and true to themselves. They caution against becoming too focused on external validation and serve as a reminder to prioritize one's own well-being and morals.

I know it's obscurely hidden on one album, but it should have got more airing - it's awesomely put together, so memorable!

such a simple but beautiful baseline. This might have been what gave me my first liking for that more complex rhythm pattern that is sorely lacking from music today.
