Her debut album Tell Somebody was released in 1988. In 1992 she sang a duet with Joe Cocker, "Trust In Me", for the movie The Bodyguard. While her debut was musically a pop album, her follow up "Racine" was more pop/rock oriented and her third album "Rats" was plain raw rock. She collaborated with godfather of P-funk George Clinton on a track off the album called "Ugly".
Jordan lived in the US for a while. During her tenure in LA, Jordan became friends with Eddie Van Halen who lived down the street from the singer and often went over to their rehearsal spit for frequent jams. Unbeknownst to Jordan, Van Halen was searching for a new lead singer and once this realization came up in conversation, Jordan put the brakes on and ensured Eddie that having a female vocalist would be the worst career move that Van Halen could make. Jordan moved back to Canada in 1996.
Jordan is also an accomplished actress, who starred in the lead role of Janis Joplin in the off-Broadway hit, "Love Janis." Jordan has guest starred on NBC's Sisters and was featured in the Toronto and Winnipeg productions of "The Vagina Monologues."
She is currently a judge on Canadian Idol. Due to her easygoing manner, she's often compared with American Idol's Paula Abdul.
In 2009, Jordan entrusted her husband Derek Sharp with producing her album From Dusk 'til Dawn. The album was recorded in only three weeks and was mixed in Los Angeles. In discussing the songwriting for From Dusk ‘til Dawn, Jordan explained, "I was thinking about how human beings seem to be more sensitive and worried about things from sunset to sunrise. When you're alone is when the fear of death really hits you, and I was trying to write songs that were related to the fears of the middle of the night."
In 2011, Jordan recorded the studio project album S.U.N.: Something Unto Nothing featuring Brian Tichy and Michael Devin of Whitesnake, and Tommy Stewart. The album began when Jordan reunited with Tichy at his Santa Clarita home studio to write songs. Something Unto Nothing marked the first collaboration between Jordan and Tichy since Rats. "Burned" was the first song that Jordan and Tichy wrote together for the project, which soon evolved into a full album.
In 2017, 25 years after the release of Racine, Jordan recorded Racine Revisited featuring reimagined versions of the songs from the original 1992 album. "We pushed the sound back to the Misty Mountain Hop days of the 1970s and made it as if we were actually recording back then," said Jordan. "We would all live together in the studio and record live off the floor [without] Auto-Tune or click track or anything like that". Of the recording process, Sass Jordan said that Racine Revisited was "the most fun I’ve had in a while making a record." "Instead of taking Racine from 1992 to 2017, we went from 1992 to 1976".
In 2020, Sass Jordan released Rebel Moon Blues, her first blues album. Rebel Moon Blues features covers of blues classics, as well as the original "The Key". In discussing "The Key" on SXMCanadaNow, Jordan said, "That song was written about three weeks before we went into recording. Derek and I realized we should have at least one song that we wrote together on here, and so we came up with "The Key". The whole song came together in an hour. When it's meant to happen it really just flows out." Rebel Moon Blues was critically acclaimed upon release, with American Blues Scene writing, "After three decades in the business, many singers lose that certain something that may have launched their career. Not so with Sass Jordan. Not only is her voice as muscular as ever, I think, like fine wine, it's improved over the years." The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart.
Her second blues album called Bitches Blues, featuring the song Still Alive and Well, was released on June 3, 2022.
In April 2023, Sass Jordan’s much anticipated live album featuring Taylor Hawkins on drums in 1994 will be available on streaming and vinyl pre-orders. Album is called Live in New York Ninety-Four. First single is High Road Easy Live.

You turn my live around
It's hard for me to say
That I still believe in this
So don't you play around
You gotta show me now
That what you're say'n is true
'Cause this confusing
(Chorus)
After all that we've been through
It's 'bout time for me to prove
I do, I do, I do
They say that love can make you blind
You lift me up can (and) make me cry
I do, I do love everything about you
I've heard it all before
But this I know for sure
You really cross the line
It doesn't work like that
So start to think about
If you could do without
'Cause I'm not gonna waste another minute
Tell me why should I try to keep this alive?
(Chorus)
Break up, split out, walk out
Come on should we?
Give up, live up, speak out
Come on tell me
Break up, split out, walk out
Come on should we?
Should we?
(Chorus 2x)
In the song "I Do" by Sass Jordan, the lyrics describe the inner conflict of the singer who is unsure whether to continue fighting for a relationship that has been tumultuous. The singer is asking their partner to prove their love and commitment by showing actions that align with their words. They acknowledge that love can make a person blind but at the same time can lift them up and make them cry. The singer has heard empty promises before but this time they want to be sure before committing further. So, the chorus repeats the phrase "I do" which suggests the willingness to commit, to move past the hurdles, and to continue loving everything about the partner.
The verse "Break up, split out, walk out, come on should we?" is more like the singer talking to themselves, weighing the options and consequences of leaving or staying in the relationship. The lyrics explore the gray area of relationships, the moment of doubt and decision-making that can either make or break a couple. In the end, the singer chooses to commit, saying "I do" twice, as a way of telling their partner that they are willing to keep the love alive and overcome any challenges that come their way.

So don't you play around
Do not deceive me
You gotta show me now
Prove your commitment immediately
That what you're say'n is true
Your words must be sincere
'Cause this confusing
This is uncertain
Tell me why should I try to keep this alive?
Explain to me why I should continue to invest in this relationship

Ah, let me tell y? all a little story
'Bout this time I was down and out
Just goes to prove there's always a light on
But if you look, you'll find it's inside of you
So I want y'all to listen up
I've been sitting here all night
Tryin' to make this thing work out right
I've been getting nowhere fast
Suddenly, as I lay down on the bed
I hear a little voice inside my head
It says, "If you want to do it girl, you got to have some faith
Come over here and listen, hurry up or you'll be late"
Listen to my story, listen to me well
Oh, I will make you a believer
If you're feeling sorry for yourself, I can tell now
Oh, I will make you a believer
Yeah, I will make you a believer, oh yeah
So you been tryin' to make amends
For the bloodsuckers you call friends
Drag you deep into the hole
Crazy that you'd let them into your world
They will take your diamonds baby, they will steal your pearls
If you want to play the game, you've got to lose the rules
You can play with passion, rules are just for fools
Listen to my story, listen to me well
Oh, I will make you a believer
If you're feeling sorry for yourself, I can tell now honey
Oh, I will make you a believer
Yeah, I will make you a believer
Ya gotta learn to fall in love with what's inside
Get on the horse I wanna ride
I got a reason to believe the light's inside
Oh oh, oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Are ya with me so far?
Hey, some things I can? t help to have
Some things have to wait
Some things I will never get, I will always
I will always have my faith, I? ll have my faith
I will make you a believer
Oh, I will make you a believer
Oh, I will make you a believer, hey honey
Oh, I will make you a believer, oh yeah
Oh, I will make you a believer
Oh, I will make you a believer
I will make you a believer, oh oh yeah
Believe me honey

Saw her in literally a dive bar waaaaaaay back in the day, and people had to be dragged in to see her, she wasn't the "It Girl" but boy did she ever deliver. What a talent.

There are so many underrated Canadian bands/vocalists. Been listening to them since the 60s. They may not be recognized in many other countries (including the U.S.), but one thing is for sure, CANADA recognizes them and thanks them for some of the best music out there. Remember, the Guess Who is a Canadian band that knocked the Beatles out of the #1 spot on the charts. Long live Canadian music!
@JoeVideoed
A nearly lost gem from the 90s as far as I'm concerned. Thankfully Foo Fighters gave her some exposure & I was able to rediscover this. TY Dave & Co.

Lucky i lived close to the border and could get CHOM FM out of Montreal. Heard so many great Canadian artists that didn't get airplay down here in the US. Awesome music!

ccmyart Celine has a beautiful voice and tbh I think a large part of her fame came from the song that she did for the Titanic movie (which incidentally was American). Although in retrospect she gots nothing on enya but still a nice voice non the less. But fully agree that sass is GREAT right to this day. Also mad props to the OP for not making another cliche millennial attention whore comment 'like this comment if your still listening in *insert year*." That's like saying "if you're watching the video above this comment, like this comment cuz reasons!"
