Delusional
Saves the Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They're breaking down the doors
They came to kill us all
There's no way out
all night I dream that they're really out to get me
The lines on my face are getting deeper every day
And hang me from the trees
Upside down and leave me
To die alone
all night I dream that they're really out to get me
The lines on my face are getting deeper every day
all night I dream that they're really out to get me
The lines on my face are getting deeper every day
But I'm not at all delusional
There's no way out
The lyrics to "Delusional" by Saves the Day are dark and haunting, conveying a sense of impending doom and hopelessness. The song describes a scenario where there are people breaking down the doors of the singer's house, presumably to kill them. The lyrics suggest that the singer has been having recurring dreams about their impending doom, and that they can feel the weight of this fear manifesting in their physical appearance.
The second half of the song takes an even darker turn, suggesting that the singer knows there is no escape. The lyrics describe a scenario where they are dragged out of their house and hung from a tree to die alone. Despite the bleakness of the lyrics, there's a sense of resignation and acceptance that permeates through the words. The final line, "But I'm not at all delusional, there's no way out," feels like an acknowledgment that the nightmare has become the only reality.
Overall, "Delusional" is a haunting song that captures the feeling of being trapped in a hopeless situation, unable to escape. It's a powerful depiction of fear and resignation that is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever felt trapped in their own anxieties.
