Undress Me
Saves the Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Laying sideways underneath the windowsill
Let's not say a thing, no, let's not even think
Just hold each other here
I remember when we met on Halloween
You and your red dress, your green eyes stared at me
The sidewalk yellow stars start t0 fade into the dark
I never want to let go
All my life I've been alone
No one there just to hold
There's lines along my face
From those endless wasted days
Showing the sun shines through the shade
I never want to let go
All my life I've been alone
No one there to just hold
Too many faces that turned away
Start to believe that it's not worth the pain
But I know that I love you
Oh, all it was is a dream
Oh, know you're here with me
The lyrics to "Undress Me" by Saves the Day are about wanting to be close to someone you really care about. The singer wants this person to undress them while the two of them lay together underneath a windowsill. The singer doesn't want to talk or think, but just hold each other. The lyrics recall a moment when the two met on Halloween, and the imagery depicts the street lights fading away into darkness. The singer is grateful to have this person in their life because they've been alone for so long before this relationship. The lines on their face show both the trials of life and the hope that came out of them. The singer knows that there are people who will turn away, but they believe that the love they share is worth it.
The song's message is about the importance of connection with others. There's a need for physical touch and emotional closeness, and the singer has found that in their loved one. The passing of time and the scars that come with it are also discussed, but they're balanced out by the hope that love brings. Overall, this song is a beautiful representation of the human desire for intimacy and meaningful relationships.
