It all started in Columbus, Ohio when Dodson and Buzzard became friends and realized that there was a musical connection. Then they contacted a drummer to help them record a song, and that is how they met Goodman. After that, they decided to start a band by borrowing a bass player from another band and by booking a few shows. They recruited a lead guitarist. Saving Jane's popularity grew because the fans loved the lyrics and the vocals. In 2002, Martin joined the band. Cochran and Unger were recently added to the popular band.
Their album "Girl Next Door" was released in October of 2005. After major radio play of the single of the same name, Universal picked them up. The album was re-released with 2 new tracks in April of 2006. The single "Girl Next Door" has received much radio play, it had already peaked at #34 on the Billboard Hot 100. The video for "Girl Next Door" debuted on MTV'sTRL top 10 countdown on April 24, 2006 at #9.
In summer 2008, a followup album called SuperGirl was released with promo remixes of the title track single Supergirl by Jason Nevins.
Better Day
Saving Jane Lyrics

All locked up without a key
I have tapped my feet impatient
For a change to come to me
I've been hanging my hair
Outside this tower
Waiting for a savior
When all along I had the power to save myself
It's gonna be a better day
I think I'm gonna be okay
Got a little air to breathe
It's alright with me
I got a little light to shine
You can't take what's mine
I've been down so low
Nowhere but up to go
So go ahead, bring on the rain
It's gonna be a better day
Every princess has a castle
Some kind of honor to defend
I would rather fight my battlews
Than hide behind a thousand men
I've been hanging my hair
Outside of this tower
Waiting for a savior
When all along, I had the power to save myself
And I can tell
It's gonna be a better day
I think I'm gonna be okay
Got a little air to breathe
It's allright with me
I got a little light to shine
You can't take what's mine
I've been down so low
Nowhere but up to go
So go ahead, bring on the rain
It's gonna be a better day
I gotta make my own luck
I gotta find my own way
I gotta see that there is more to life than just existing
I wanna be living
It's gonna be a better day
I think I'm gonna be okay
Got a little air to breathe
It's alright with me
I got a little light to shine
You can't take what's mine
I've been down so low
Nowhere but up to go
So go ahead, bring on the rain
It's gonna be a better day
The lyrics to Saving Jane's song "Better Day" express a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency in the face of adversity. The singer has been feeling trapped and helpless, waiting for someone else to rescue them, but they finally realize that they have the power to save themselves. The metaphor of the princess in her tower represents the idea that even those who seem to have everything still face challenges and have to fight for their own happiness. The attitude of the song is positive and optimistic, with a focus on moving forward and finding joy in life despite the difficulties that may arise.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "It's gonna be a better day," emphasizing the idea that things will improve and that the singer will be able to overcome their struggles. The lyrics also mention finding "a little air to breathe" and "a little light to shine," suggesting that even small moments of freedom and joy can make a big difference in someone's life. The singer expresses a determination to make their own luck and to live fully, rather than simply existing. Overall, the song encourages listeners to believe in themselves and to keep pushing forward, even when things seem difficult.
