There is more than one artist with this name:
1) Savoy is an electronic trio based in Boulder, Colorado, USA. Made up by Ben Eberdt, Gray Smith and Mike Kelly, the band has played all over the United States. Their MySpace is http://www.myspace.com/savoyband, their official site at http://www.savoyband.com
2) Savoy is a Norwegian-American rock trio consisting of Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (famous from Norwegian hit machine a-ha) (vocals/guitars/bass/keyboards), Lauren Savoy (vocals/guitars) and Frode Unneland (drums/percussion/vocals).
The band has released 5 albums to date. Savoy, unlike Waaktaar-Savoy's other band a-ha, has a certain down-to-earth indie rock approach.
All songs are composed by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy with his wife Lauren Savoy. Lauren herself is known as a film maker and has, amongst other things, directed both a-ha and Savoy music videos. Frode Unneland is one of Norway's best drummers known from the Bergen music scene as drummer with Chocolate Overdose and Popium. He has also drummed for Norwegian pop sensation Sondre Lerche.
3) Savoy is a German emo band.
4) Savoy, a Romanian band, active during the Communist regime and sponsored by the Union of Young Communists. It was supposed to be the rival of dissident rock bands like Phoenix and Sfinx, it got a lot of media support. Jokes about the leader of the band concern his cheap imitation of the Dire Straits vestimentation and garments. Savoy sounded more folky and progressive rather than hard or heavy.

Savoy Lyrics

Her face cut from stone
Her eyes when she's smiling
Will never reach home
But hear how she sings
Her touch would be tender
But when we're together
I'm always alone
But hear how she sings
But hear how she sings
But hear how she sings
Her skin is like velvet
So I went to her home
Her place like a palace
With things you can't own
Her skin is like velvet
And hear how she sings
Hear how she sings
She sings
Hear how she sings
The song Velvet by Savoy is a melancholic yet beautiful piece about a woman who is alluring and unattainable. The first two lines set the tone for the rest of the song, depicting the woman's physical beauty with poetic descriptions of her skin and face. However, the following lines reveal that despite her attractive features, she is emotionally distant and unattainable. The lyrics "Her eyes when she's smiling will never reach home" suggest that even when she shows happiness, it is merely a facade, and her true emotions are shielded.
The chorus, "But hear how she sings," can be interpreted in two ways. Firstly, it could mean that the woman is using her singing as a means of expression and communication, as it is the only time her emotions can truly be heard. Secondly, it could also refer to the fact that the man who is crushing on this woman can only experience her through her singing, as she is not emotionally present when they are together.
The next verse paints a picture of the woman's luxurious lifestyle, with her home being described as a palace filled with material possessions that the singer cannot attain. The repetition of the line "Her skin is like velvet" serves as a reminder of her beauty, with the final repetition highlighting her singing once more.
Overall, the song reads like a bittersweet ode to a woman who is beautiful and captivating, but ultimately unattainable due to emotional distance.

Wow, love to hear the original version. I love this and the a-ha one now. Pål and Lauren’s voices. ❤ Pål and that guitar at the beginning, killing it!
Thank you for posting this❤

Wait, did I say at the beginning? Pål kills it through the whole song! To me really, he kills it with the guitar in many songs, including A-ha. The man is so talented and should get way more credit with this.
I so feel Morten got way too much attention in A-ha. Magne and Pål were out in the background a lot. These two men have talent in spades! Not that Morten isn’t talented with that voice. Just gets old reading comments in videos where it’s a killer song that Magne or Pål wrote or one or both of them are killing it on their instruments. Then the main topic in the comments is about Morten’s looks. Sigh 🤦🏻♀️🙄
Pretty refreshing to see when they get their much deserved praise. I need to watch more videos like this. 👍🏼😊
Margaruta Potemcina
