May Be Wrong
Savoy Brown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I may be wrong about ya baby
Yes but i'll be right one day

Yes i may be wrong about ya baby
Yes but i believe i'm gonna be right one day

Yes but one of these days
Yes yes youre gonna stop those evil ways

Yes youre actin like ya love me
Baby - baby but ya cant fool me

Yes youre actin like ya love me baby
Well well ya fooled the others
But you cant fool me

Well youre gonna mistreat me one day
Baby baby baby just you wait and see

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "May Be Wrong" by Savoy Brown are centered around a man's suspicion of his significant other. The repetition of "I may be wrong about ya baby, Yes but I'll be right one day" shows the singer's doubt in their partner's loyalty to them but also their determination to uncover the truth. The line "Yes but one of these days/Yes yes you're gonna stop those evil ways" highlights the singer's belief that their partner is deceptive and manipulative. The singer talks about how their partner is pretending to love them, but they cannot be fooled. He warns them that they will mistreat him one day.

This song delves into issues of trust, suspicion, and deception that can come up in romantic relationships. The lyrics suggest that the singer is aware of their partner's true nature and is waiting for their true colors to be revealed. The use of the bluesy guitar riffs and the soulful vocals of the singer add depth to the song's emotional themes.

Remember driving the autobahn in Germany listening to Savoy Brown while stationed in Germany in the early 70's plus seeing them live in these small halls with my German friends. Was an awesome time living the 70's dream never to be repeated.
