Troubled By These Days And Times
Savoy Brown Lyrics

Well I'm troubled, yes I'm troubled
Well I'm troubled by these days and times
Well I'm troubled, yes I'm troubled
You know I'm troubled by these days and times
When fortune smiles on me, it's leaving me behind
Everybody knows that fate can be so unkind
If that's the way it's gotta be I guess it's alright
Well I'm worried, yes I'm worried
I'm worried 'bout what's gonna come
Well I'm worried, oh Lord I'm worried
I'm worried 'bout the things I've done
No use in thinking 'bout what's right or wrong
Caring for nothing than yourself in so long
Should I regret the years I let go by
Living for the day and never wondering why
Well I'm troubled, yes I'm troubled
Well I'm troubled by these days and times
Well I'm troubled, oh Lord I'm troubled
You know I'm troubled by these days and times
When fortune smiles on me, it's leaving me behind
Everybody knows that fate can be so unkind
Don't wanna kick myself for the rest of my life
If that's the way it's gotta be I guess it's alright
Troubled by these days and times
The lyrics to Savoy Brown's song, "Troubled By These Days And Times," are filled with existential angst and a sense of apprehension regarding the future. The repeated refrain, "Well I'm troubled, yes I'm troubled / You know I'm troubled by these days and times," highlights the singer's unease and suggests that they are not alone in their concerns.
The first stanza implies that the singer feels left behind by the changing times and that good fortune is elusive. The line "Don't wanna kick myself for the rest of my life / If that's the way it's gotta be I guess it's alright" conveys a resigned acceptance of their predicament. The second stanza reveals that the singer is plagued by regret and worries about their past actions. The lines "Should I regret the years I let go by / Living for the day and never wondering why" suggest that the singer may have lived impulsively and failed to make meaningful choices.
Overall, the song's lyrics are a meditation on the human condition and the challenges that we face as we navigate through life. The sense of uncertainty and restlessness that pervades the song is relatable and speaks to the universal human experience.

Savoy Brown really had it going on in those days. Dave Walker, Kim Simmonds and the key to their success IMO, Paul Raymond, who BTW wrote this song.

Savoy Brown went through some changes as Fleetwood Mac undertook, they started out with being more electric blues, though with Street Corner they took on a different course and became kind of what early CCR should have been after Suzie Q ,they actually have these 2 albums that were exceptional ! Sort of what Fleetwood did with Bucky/NIcks ..became popular . Great album,..I miss listening to it !.
