“A monochrome of sound and art that fails the criteria of mediocrity.”
Over the years, this phrase has defined the music of Saydie, a five piece rock band formed in April 2003. Indeed, the band is best known for being pioneers in female fronted heavy music in the Philippines, with their debut self-titled album being one of the first to showcase a unique take on the genre in the local music scene of their home country. Over time, Saydie’s raw, aggressive and authentic approach to their music has earned them a huge and dedicated following.
In the 2010s, Saydie has managed to stand the test of time and continuously evolve its sound. This evolution is apparent with the band’s upcoming second album “Belita” from which the singles “Austine”, “Heather’s Prayer” and “Onyx” have been released – the first two singles gathering over 100,000 views on YouTube combined and the latter single topping the Rakista Radio charts for three consecutive weeks. Now a stronger band than ever, Saydie continues to aspire to greater heights of musical expression and success, with mediocrity being ever absent from the band’s vocabulary.
Saydie is Kat Taylor, Josh Madrid, Kurt Corpus, Monx Arguelles and Karl Kliatchko.

Im sorry I didn't mean to burn her hair
Sorry is all you can fuckin say
All the tears that you cry
Can never bring her back
All the tears that you cry
Now she's gone
Who's gonna be there when I get scared
Who's gonna wear this dress that I made
Cry like hell, cry like hell's all you can fuckin do
All the tears that you cry
Can never bring her back
All the tears that you cry
Now she's gone
You tore my doll apart
You've decapitated her
Turned her hair into dust
All the tears that you cry
Can never bring her back
All the tears that you cry
Now she's gone
You tore my doll apart
I can just leave her alone
Locked inside my dark cabinet
Would you let me burn you too
Would you do
All the tears that you cry
Can never bring her back
All the tears that you cry
Now she's gone
You tore my doll apart
Im sorry I didn't mean to melt your face off
The lyrics of Saydie's song "Vylet" speak of a tale of regret and sadness. The singer apologizes for the unintentional harm that she may have caused to someone she loves. She expresses sorrow for "melting her face off" and "burning her hair." Despite her apology, she feels that sorry is all she can say and that nothing else can bring her loved one back. The singer realizes that all the tears that she cries will not change the past, and her loved one is now gone. She questions who will be there for her when she needs someone and who will wear the dress that she made.
As the song progresses, the singer compares her loved one to a "doll" that has been "torn apart." She speaks of the pain and devastation that she feels when she sees that her loved one has been decapitated, and her hair has turned to dust. The singer realizes that she can't bring her loved one back and suggests that she can only leave her alone, locked inside a dark cabinet. The song concludes with a final apology for "melting" and hurting her loved one.
Overall, the song touches on the universal themes of regret, loss, and sorrow. It speaks of the pain that one feels when they unintentionally harm someone they love and the realization that sorry is sometimes not enough.
