Hand Of The Dead Body
Scarface Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

"In world news today: officials agree that rapper Brad Jordan, alias
Scarface, must be stopped
After being monitored by Secret Service agents for two years
Evidence leads Tobacco and Firearms officials to believe
That his literally dope lyrics promote drug usage and distribution
Degrade women, influence gambling, promote and teach violence
And more importantly it's influencing our minors and destroying our communities
Officials say, he's the lord of underground rap and his music must be stopped"

We got this ho mothafucka on a mission
Now the whole entire world's gotta try to come up with a quick decision
They claim we threats to society
And now they calling on the government to try and make somebody quiet
For the bullshit they done to me
Gangsta Nip, Spice-1 or 2Pac never gave a gun to me
So gangsta rap ain't done shit for that
I've even seen white folks from River Oaks go get the gat
So why you trying kick some dust up
America's always been known for blaming us niggas for they fuck-ups
And we were always considered evil
Now they trying to bust our only code of communicating with our people
Lets peep the game from a different angle
Matt Dillon pulled his pistol every time him and someone tangled
So why you criticize me
For the shit that you see on your tv
That rates worse than PG
Just bring your ass to where they got me
So you can feel the hand of the dead body

Nigga don't believe that song
That nigga's wrong
Gangstas don't live that long
Nigga don't believe that song
That nigga's wrong
Gangstas don't live that long

So now they trying separation
And sending black folks in white coats to infiltrate our congregation
Tapping into our conversation
Saying the message that they give
Bring forth or premeditation
So David's got a silver mag
While listening to Brad, David gets pissed and kills his dad
David Duke's got a shotgun
So why you get upset 'cause I got one
A tisket a tasket
A nigga got his ass kicked
Shot in the face by a cop, close casket
An open and shut situation
Cop gets got, the wanna blame it on my occupation
If you don't dig me, than nigga you can sue me
Because the shit that I be saying ain't worse than no western movie
Don't blame me blame your man Gotti
So you can feel the hand of the dead body

Nigga don't believe that song
That nigga's wrong
Gangstas don't live that long
Nigga don't believe that song
That nigga's wrong
Gangstas don't live that long

You best to free your mind
Before I free my nine
And stop fucking with D'voidofpop
Or feel my hot rocks
Bang, bang, boom boom, ping ping I'm the black
White boys got a magazine and don't know how to act
I'll attack and make you vomit
Down with Khalid Abdul Muhammad
Do he got a brother, I'm it now
I'm the illest
Wanna kill this house nigga Don Cornelius
Can you feel this?
You punk niggas make me sick
Sucking on the devil's dick
Scared of revolution
Need to start douching
Houston is the place
I caught a case
Them motherfuckers tried to put a scar on my face
But I bust two times to the gut
Do the Reverend Calvin Butts
Got a pair of nuts?
I started this gangsta shit in '86
Now you dissing me
For publicity
Isn't he a ho to the third degree
Who me
I'm a g who like to scrap-a-lot
Down with Rap-A-Lot
And I can't stop, won't stop
So fuck Bill and Hillary
Ice Cube there ain't no killing me
Ice Cube, Scarface
Dropping on these selling out niggas, doing it like this

Nigga don't believe that song
That nigga's wrong
Gangstas don't live that long
Nigga don't believe that song

That nigga's wrong
Gangstas don't live that long

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Hand of the Dead Body" by Scarface explore the rapper's perception of being targeted by the government for his gangsta rap lyrics. He is aware that officials view him as a threat to society, accusing his music of promoting drug use and distribution, degrading women, influencing gambling, promoting and teaching violence, and most significantly, ruining communities and minors. Scarface is angry at being blamed for society's faults and being considered evil when gangsta rap has never given him a gun. He points out that even white people from wealthy neighborhoods carry weapons and that America has a history of blaming Black people for their problems.

Scarface expresses his frustration at being criticized by the government for the content of his music and sees it as an attack on his community. He argues that police brutality is rampant and claims that his music is no worse than what is shown on television. Scarface suggests that the government is trying to infiltrate the Black community by sending black people in white coats to monitor him and tap into his conversations. He makes a reference to a white supremacist, David Duke, having a shotgun and questions why he is being singled out for carrying a gun. Scarface is angry at the injustice and persecution he has faced and warns people not to believe what they are told about gangsters not living long.

Scarface was ahead of his time when he made this song, ironically this song is still relevant today. His first verse went over alot of people’s heads. He deserves his recognition for all he brought to Rap game. Devin The Dude chorus was also the highlight of this song. He really made this song. Cube delivery on his verse, he went so hard on this song.

@time2chill121

He wasn't ahead of his time.

Growing up in the 70's-90's and during this era of music made me realize today as a 50 year old man, that these artists spoke the truth. Back then we'd hear tracks like this and feel the beat and bobbing our heads thinking we are G'd out hearing Scarface spit some insane lyrics. Until Cube came in and spoke of Khalid Muhammed only now I am researching about that brother. In reality these hommies told some deep stories of the realities of life. I swear when I hear this track now I shed a tear because 25 years later seeing the hate in this world, can make a grown man cry. For real. Long live East/West Cali Hip Hop.

As REAL as you put it.. As for me "As an African/Zambian Growing up in the 80's-90's and during this era of music has made me realize today as a 42 year old man, that these artists spoke the truth. The Hate perpetuated by one race to another and by ourselves as human beings still continues.. Sad that artists our this era just blabber about fancy things and mostly things i don't even understand..

FACTS! BITTERSWEET NOSTALGIA AT IT'S FINEST! I hv damn near drowned myself in tears & snot when I think about what was vs what is. These MEN used their VOICES/WORDS to shed light upon the good, the bad & the ugly of the world. Knowledge was gifted, while many perspectives were broadened. If I could turn back time...WTF HAPPENED TO US?! 🤔🤯🏃🏾‍♀️😭⏳
My son was listening to a song the other day that made me sooo damn mad! I lost brain cells, my IQ was lowered & my self control immediately disappeared! The sonsg had a decent beat, but the CLOWN (rapper) only made sounds & gibberish babble throughout the 3-4 mins that almost earned my dumb ass son an ass whooping! This child is mocking the same noises, jumping up & down while those BIG ASS TEETH were exposed because he was smiling sooo damn hard! That moment proved those FAMOUS WORDS WE ALWAYS HEARD GROWING UP: YOU DON'T MISS WHAT YOU'VE GOT, UNTIL IT'S GONE! (here come the tears) GOD PLS HELP US!!!😭🙏🏽🙉🎭
