Scars On Broadway (SOAD) Lyrics

Run all the way to Babylon
Meet you there in Babylon
Meet you there in Babylon
Running to Babylon
Run all the way to Babylon
Meet you there in Babylon
Marooned again, you were the one that threw me into life
Marooned again, you were the one that looked through the sadder light
I liked the way we slept on rooftops in the summertime
If we were all marooned again, I'd give my soul to save you
Marooned again, you were the one that put me in defense
Marooned again, you were the one that took my confidence
I liked the way we slept on rooftops in the summertime
If we were all marooned again, I'd give my soul to save your life
Running from Babylon
Run all the way to Babylon
Meet you there in Babylon
Meet you there in Babylon...
Babylon...
The lyrics of Scars On Broadway's song Babylon are very intriguing and deal with the idea of running away to a place called Babylon. The chorus emphasizes the idea of running, with the repetition of "Running to Babylon" and "Run all the way to Babylon," which gives the impression of desperation and urgency. The idea of meeting someone in Babylon also adds to the urgency and desperation of the song's lyrics.
The verses of the song talk about feeling marooned and lost, with the lines "Marooned again, you were the one that threw me into life" and "Marooned again, you were the one that looked through the sadder light" suggesting a feeling of being abandoned or not being understood by a significant other. The beaming light of hope comes in the line "If we were all marooned again, I'd give my soul to save you", which shows that the singer would do anything to save the person they love, even if they feel abandoned or lost.
The use of Babylon here is quite interesting as it can have several interpretations. Babylon is a city in ancient Mesopotamia, often used as a symbol for excess, decadence, and the fall of a great civilization. It can also be seen as a spiritual place of refuge, where the singer wants to escape to restore their soul. In either case, the idea of escaping to Babylon reflects a need to escape from one's current situation.

This song is really fantastic.
I wake up thinking in it.
I suppose it's one of my favourite from the first album.
Also, this is really a great album. I would like to particularly mention the use of keyboards on every track, that just added this special sound to the whole work.
Personally, the second album is shit, altho have a few hits. I felt the lack of musical prodution in it. A raw sound... Without much pleasently to the ears haha (like keyboards could have done the job).

After almost 10 years of not listening to Scars on Broadway, for some reason I suddenly have the urge to listen to this song again. I now remember why I listened to them in the first place.
