Schiller Lyrics

Ruhe
Das höchste Glück auf Erden
kommt sehr oft nur durch Einsamkeit in das Herz

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Schiller's song "Ruhe" speak of a higher form of happiness that often only comes through solitude. The song speaks to the powerful and rejuvenating effect of being alone and finding peace within oneself. It acknowledges that true happiness often comes from within and cannot be found in external sources.

The word "Ruhe" itself translates to "rest" or "tranquility". The song's first line says it all: "Ruhe, das höchste Glück auf Erden" ("Rest, the highest happiness on Earth"). In the hustle and bustle of our lives, we often forget the importance of taking time for ourselves and reconnecting with our inner selves. The song urges us to take a step back and appreciate the beauty of being alone and finding solace in it.

The second line of the song speaks to the fact that the greatest form of happiness is often found in solitude. It's when we are alone with our thoughts and feelings that we can truly connect with ourselves and find a sense of peace. The message is clear: don't be afraid of being alone, for it can lead to the greatest form of happiness.

These lyrics are so applicable for world today when everyone is in lockdown at home alone:

Ruhe
Das höchste Glück auf Erden
kommt sehr oft nur durch Einsamkeit in das Herz

Quiet
The greatest happiness on earth
very often comes into the heart only through loneliness

I hope after this pandemic the people in the world realise and protest this system and elite who govern the world and make life not worth living.
