Moonshine
Sci-Fi Lullaby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I think somebody switched my soul at birth
These bones don't really feel like home
And consequently I do nothing but hurt
No one recieving my pheremones
To be with me, you'd have to be, accident prone

It's not just you that feels like shit today
There must be something in the food
Well Jason, lace up your petroleum boots
We're to the moon, we're to the moon

Like Dave and Daniel we'll be having a wonderful time
Soon I'll find myself, then I'm coming down to shine

It's not just you that feels like shit today
There must be something in the food
Well Jason, lace up your petroleum boots
We're to the moon, we're to the moon

If I could only be what I want
I'd make a real good pervert
Okay so maybe I could be what you want
Building a love from the dirt
But when it rains, I'd be a stain
Of mud on your skirt

Like Dave and Daniel we'll be having a wonderful time
Soon I'll find myself, then I'm coming down to shine

It's not just you that feels like shit today
There must be something in the food
Well Jason, lace up your petroleum boots
We're to the moon, we're to the moon
It's not just you that feels like shit today
There must be something in the food

Well Jason, lace up your petroleum boots
We're to the moon, we're to the moon

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Moonshine by Sci-Fi Lullaby are riddled with metaphors and symbolism that make it an interesting and compelling piece of art to interpret. The opening lines of the song - "I think somebody switched my soul at birth, These bones don't really feel like home" set the tone for the entire song. The lyrics suggest that the singer feels like they don't belong in their own skin, and everything they do only ends up causing pain and hurt - "And consequently I do nothing but hurt, No one receiving my pheromones, To be with me, you'd have to be accident-prone". This feeling of not belonging, of being different, is a common theme amongst individuals struggling with identity issues.

The singer then shifts their attention away from themselves towards the world around them. They suggest that there is something in the world that is making everyone feel like shit today, and it's not just them - "It's not just you that feels like shit today, There must be something in the food". The use of the phrase "something in the food" is an implied criticism of modern-day society and its reliance on processed foods and chemicals that we consume every day. The song then takes an interesting turn as the singer suggests that they want to go to the moon - "Well, Jason lace up your petroleum boots, we're to the moon, we're to the moon". This can be interpreted as a desire to escape the mundanity of everyday life, as well as the societal pressures that come with it.

The line - "Like Dave and Daniel we'll be having a wonderful time, Soon I'll find myself, then I'm coming down to shine" - is an indication that the singer is not happy with the person they are at the moment, but they hope to find themselves eventually. The song's crescendo describes the Speaker wanting to be more than they are now, stating that they would make a great pervert but also suggesting that they could build a love from dirt. The final line of the song, "We're to the moon, we're to the moon" is repeated twice, and is deliberately designed to leave the listener in suspense, wondering what exactly the singer means by this.

I think all three films are symbolic.

The first film is about generational curses, the daughter symbolically lives through her mother's pain and insecurity only to be with a man like her father.

The second film is about choices when it comes to friendship and bullying. Just like the girl that was teased, was ignored. Her former friends please for help were ignored too. Friendship ironically would have saved both of them. Also even though it's a stretch maybe the guy that committed the m*rders was, a victim of bullying himself and only targeted people that were bullies.

The final film was about breaking the cycles of hatred. It showed that not everybody is born with hate in their hearts. We learn that horrible attribute as we age. However no matter what was done to us we have the opportunity, to show each other kindness and forgive.

In conclusion all three films represent we have the choice to continue the cycle of hate or lead forward with compassion.

The first movie tells the tale of a woman who gets married and pregnant and her husband leaves she then raises the child as if it's stuck to her afraid of becoming lonely and being left again, this child grows up in the mother's shadow with all the mother's fears and insecurities ,after this child grows into a woman she meets a man that's like her father and the cycle continues

Thank you for the explanation. It makes more sense. It is better than seeing incest. Daughter sees dad coming back and he thinks his daughter is his wife.

@@Exquisite11 - Lol, that's for sure! When I was pregnant, it felt like 3 years instead of 9 months. Can't imagine 13 years! šŸ˜†

The dad comes back and wants to make a baby with his child thatā€™s wearing its mothers skin. Wow. Iā€™ve seen a lot of weird movies but thatā€™s crazy
