Sweater Weather
Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox feat. Cristina Gatti Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Je ne suis qu'une femme
Je veux le monde entre mes mains
Je déteste la plage
Mais je reste debout
Avec mes orteils dans le sable
Use the sleeves of my sweater
Let's have an adventure
Head in the clouds but my gravity's centered
Touch my neck and I'll touch yours
You in those little high-waisted shorts, oh
She knows what I think about
And what I think about
One love, two mouths
One love, one house
No shirt, no blouse
Just us, you find out
Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about, no
Il fait trop froid
Pour toi ici
Et maintenant
Alors, laisse-moi tenir
Tes mains dans les trous de mon pull
And if I may just take your breath away
I don't mind if there's not much to say
Sometimes the silence guides our minds
So move to a place so far away, yeah
The goose bumps start to raise
The minute that my left hand meets your face
And then I touch your face
Put my finger on your tongue
'Cause you love to taste, yeah
Ces cœurs adorent
Tout le monde les autres battent plus forts
Inside this place is warm
Outside it starts to pour
Coming down
One love, one house
No shirt, no blouse
Just us, you find out
Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about, no, no, no
'Cause it's too cold
For you here, so now
So let me hold
Both your hands in the holes of my sweater
(Whistling)
'Cause it's too cold
For you here
So now, let me hold

Both your hands in the holes of my sweater
The holes of my sweater...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Sweater Weather" by Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox feat. Cristina Gatti explore the idea of two individuals spending time together, enjoying each other's company while experiencing the beauty of nature. The female narrator talks about wanting the world in her hands, although she dislikes the beach. Despite this, she stands with her toes in the sand, using her sweater sleeves, telling the listener it is time to have an adventure. The male character sports some high-waisted shorts and captures the attention of the female. He knows what she is thinking about and shares the same thoughts about her. The chorus speaks of a single house, a single love, and two mouths. Both are in a place far away, and they let their silence and the warmth of the place guide their minds. When their hands meet, they feel goosebumps, and the woman touches the man's face, putting her finger on his tongue. The hearts pulsate as one, beating stronger than any others.

As the temperature drops, the woman holds onto the man, sinking her hands into the holes of his sweater, and they share a moment of intimacy. The whistling at the end of the song conveys the simple yet compelling nature of their love.

As a French, i have to admit that her accent when she sang in french is really cute. Even though the pronounciation of some words wasn't right, this cover is perfect!

I agree I'm also French

Dildozer, the words of Acacia Jones were not offensive or critical at all.
You know that we all enjoy (and feel honored) when people are singing in our mother language, whatever and wherever we are from.
So it was just a way to say he appreciated her (successful) efforts to sing in french. That's all and no more. Its music, not a war :-)

+olivier revert That's exactly the way i felt: honored :) As you said, i wasn't trying to be harsh, because i really appreciated the way she sang, and it makes me happy to see people speaking french because i know that it can be hard to learn this language, so it's cool to see Christina singing in my mother tongue :)

Aelfweard

and yet nobody comments on my french.
