Sweet Mercies
Scott Brenner Lyrics

So very weak, but you are strong
And though we've nothing, Lord
To lay at your feet
We come to your feet
And say, "Help us along"
And It's our confession, Lord that we are weak
And though we've nothing, Lord
To lay at your feet
We come to your feet
And say, "Help us along"
A broken heart and a contrite spirit
You have yet to deny
Your heart of mercy
Beats with love's strong current
Let the river flow
By your Spirit now, Lord we cry
"Let your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord, as we pray"
"Let your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord, as we pray"
And It's our confession, Lord that we are weak
So very weak, but you are strong
And though we've nothing, Lord
To lay at your feet
We come to your feet
And say, "Help us along"
And A broken heart and a contrite spirit
You have yet to deny
Your heart of mercy
Beats with love's strong current
Let the river flow
By your Spirit now, Lord we cry
"Let your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord, as we pray"
"Let your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord, as we pray"
Shower down, bring Your mercy
Shower down
If we ask, You said You'd come, You'd send Your rain on everyone
You said you if we ask, You said You would come, You would send Your rain on everyone
So right now we ask that you would come, that you would send your rain on everyone
We ask that you'd come right now, that you would send your rain on everyone
"Let your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord, as we pray"
"Let your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord, as we pray"
The song "Sweet Mercies" by Scott Brenner is a humble confession of weakness and a plea for God's mercy. The lyrics acknowledge that despite our best efforts, we are frail and powerless on our own. However, the song also reminds us that the Lord is strong and merciful, and that we can rely on Him to help us when we are struggling. The repeated chorus of "Let your mercies fall from heaven, sweet mercies flow from heaven, new mercies for today, shower them down Lord, as we pray" is a plea for God's grace and love to sustain us through difficult times.
Additionally, the song highlights the importance of having a contrite heart and a willingness to come to God with humility. The lyrics suggest that God is always willing to open His heart to those who are sincere and willing to receive His blessings. The final lines of the song ask that God would "send His rain on everyone," an evocative metaphor for the life-giving power of His mercy.
Overall, "Sweet Mercies" is a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and the transformative power of God's love. It encourages listeners to approach God with an open heart and a willingness to receive His blessings, even when we feel lost or alone.
