He was heavily involved in the evolution of the UK's hardcore techno scene from the early 1990s, in particular introducing the harder-edged sounds of Belgian and Dutch techno to the UK, and taking the Scottish sounds to Europe. A more detailed background of Brown's music style is given at bouncy techno.
Brown had produced music on his own record labels (Evolution Records, Evolution Plus, Evolve, 23rd Precinct Music, Evolution Gold, Poosh, Screwdriver and Twisted Vinyl), and under a range of monikers including Plus System, and with his band Q-Tex. In particular, his work has featured on Bonkers, to date the best-selling series of hardcore compilations. His most significant tracks are "Technophobia", "Fly With You", "Now Is The Time", "Elysium", and "Turn Up The Music". He DJs at rave events in the UK, the Netherlands, and elsewhere.
In 2006 he teamed up with Ultrabeat to make the vocal remix of his classic single Elysium.

Do What Ya Like
Scott Brown Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do what ya like, donβ²t blame it on me
Do what ya like, do what ya like
Do what ya like, as time goes by
You will be the one that bothers me
So tell me I need time to be with you
Baby, whatever comes across your mind
Do what ya like, do what ya like
Do what ya like, don't blame it on me
Do what ya like, do what ya like
Do what ya like, as time goes by
You will be the one that bothers me
So tell me I need time to be with you
Baby, whatever comes across your mind
Your loving is still lying all the time
Do what ya like, do what ya like
Do what ya like, donβ²t blame it on me
Do what ya like, do what ya like
Do what ya like, as time goes by
The song "Do What Ya Like" by Scottish DJ and producer Scott Brown is a pop-trance track that encourages listeners to live life on their own terms, without worrying about anyone else's opinions. The repeated refrain of "do what ya like" drives this message home, emphasizing the importance of being true to oneself and following one's own passions and desires. The lyrics suggest that others may criticize or resent this behavior, as indicated by the line "you will be the one that bothers me," but the singer refuses to take responsibility for these reactions, instead urging the listener to take ownership of their choices and not to place blame on anyone else.
The rest of the lyrics provide more context for this message, suggesting that the singer is in a relationship with someone who is demanding their time and attention. However, the singer is not willing to sacrifice their own desires and urges their partner to accept their need for independence. The line "baby, whatever comes across your mind, your loving is still lying all the time" is particularly significant, as it suggests that the partner's affection is insincere or manipulative in some way, further reinforcing the theme of individualism and the importance of staying true to oneself.
Overall, "Do What Ya Like" is an upbeat, energetic track that encourages listeners to embrace their own passions and desires, regardless of what others might think. The repeated refrain of "do what ya like" provides a catchy, memorable hook that reinforces the song's central message and makes it a popular choice for dance floors and parties.
