He was heavily involved in the evolution of the UK's hardcore techno scene from the early 1990s, in particular introducing the harder-edged sounds of Belgian and Dutch techno to the UK, and taking the Scottish sounds to Europe. A more detailed background of Brown's music style is given at bouncy techno.
Brown had produced music on his own record labels (Evolution Records, Evolution Plus, Evolve, 23rd Precinct Music, Evolution Gold, Poosh, Screwdriver and Twisted Vinyl), and under a range of monikers including Plus System, and with his band Q-Tex. In particular, his work has featured on Bonkers, to date the best-selling series of hardcore compilations. His most significant tracks are "Technophobia", "Fly With You", "Now Is The Time", "Elysium", and "Turn Up The Music". He DJs at rave events in the UK, the Netherlands, and elsewhere.
In 2006 he teamed up with Ultrabeat to make the vocal remix of his classic single Elysium.

The lyrics to Scott Brown's song "Neckbreaker" are straightforward and ominous. The repetition of the phrase "I'll break your neck" throughout the song is intimidating and aggressive. The song is a high-energy, aggressive rave track, and the lyrics reflect that intensity. The lyrics are designed to create a tense and exciting atmosphere, with the repetition of the line adding a hypnotic, almost chant-like quality to the song.
The song's title, "Neckbreaker," is a reference to the effect the song is designed to have on its listeners. The idea is that the aggressive beat and intense lyrics will be so overwhelming that the listener will have their neck "broken" by the sheer force of the music. The repetition of the phrase "Play this track" at the beginning of the song is a way of commanding the listener to engage with the music and become fully immersed in its energy.
