carry me
Scott Krippayne Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Finding there's nowhere to go but through
Searching the depths within
Seeing there's no place to hold onto
But Your feet have walked
Through every wave that I'll ever face
(chorus)
Carry me through the darkest night
Carry me over the water
Safe to the other side
Facing an endless tide
Constantly pulled out away from shore
Feels like it's sink or swim
And I just can't fight anymore
But You take my hand
Here is my heart, You understand
chorus
You are the One I need
Holding me close
Safe in Your arms
chorus
The lyrics of Scott Krippayne's "Carry Me" portray the relationship between the singer and their higher power, who they see as a guiding force in their life. It starts with the singer standing at the water's edge, facing a tough situation with nowhere to turn but through it. They describe searching within themselves, but finding no solace as there is no place to hold on. However, they find comfort in the knowledge of their higher power's presence. The lyrics suggest that this guiding force has faced similar situations before and is the only one who can help the singer get through them.
The chorus comes in as a plea for this higher power to help them overcome their current battle. The singer asks to be carried over the water and through the darkest night to reach the other side, symbolizing a brighter future. They go on to describe a feeling of being alone in the vastness of the ocean, feeling like they are constantly being pulled away from the shore with no hope of returning. Despite this, they place their trust in their higher power and ask to be held tight in their arms, ultimately finding their strength and solace in their faith.
Overall, "Carry Me" is a song about finding guidance, hope, and strength in faith in moments of uncertainty and desperation. It speaks to the universal feeling of being lost and alone, but finding comfort in the belief that there is someone looking out for us and guiding us through our toughest moments.
