Where
Scott Weiland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where's your man
He's lost and gone again
What is your name?
The name behind the shame
Where's the cup,
It was filled, now
Broken up
Where's your man

He's lost and gone again
As I get behind the wheel again
Pray to live a million years
You know I lied but

If it makes you glad
I'll tell you what you want to hear

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Where by Scott Weiland are cryptic and open to interpretation. The opening lines are directed towards a female, asking for the whereabouts of her man who has disappeared again. The following lines suggest a sense of shame with the singer asking for the woman's name, indicating that the woman is probably feeling accountable for the man's absence. The broken cup could be a metaphorical reference to their shattered relationship or the man's broken state of mind.

The next set of lines could suggest that the singer is getting behind the wheel of a vehicle, possibly indicating a sense of control or freedom. The line "Pray to live a million years" could mean that the singer is willing to fight for his life and take on any challenges that come his way. The subsequent line "You know I lied but/If it makes you glad/I'll tell you what you want to hear" indicates that the singer is willing to lie to please the woman and keep her happy.

The overall interpretation of the song could be that it's an honest reflection of relationships that have gone sour. The song seems to suggest that despite the pain and heartbreak, the singer is willing to lie and manipulate in order to hold onto someone they care about. It paints a picture of someone desperate to keep a connection alive, even if it means losing themselves in the process.

This was always my favorite song from 12 Bar Blues as it breaks my heart the way it is now as I mourn the loss of one of the greatest front men in music history! I think most of us expected to lose Scott to early in some way but regardless its a devastating loss and I can honestly say that his charisma and talent are untouchable! R.I.P. Scott Weiland
