Make This One Last

The hurt in your eyes, the stifled goodbyes
And I knew, as you turned this was always
No parting remark, no shot in the dark
So take care of your love tonight, take care of your love
'Cause I know, like a candle it can flicker
So take care of your love tonight take care of your love
Make this one last, make this one last
'Cause love really hurts when it's past, make this one last
Life goes on, now you're gone, it gets better
As the days fall away and the memories fade
I'll catch myself smile when I think of a moment
That would've made you laugh and that breaks my heart
So take care of your love tonight, take care of your love
'Cause I know, like a candle it can flicker
So take care of your love tonight take care of your love
'Cause I know, if she goes how you'll miss her
Make this one last, make this one last
'Cause love really hurts when it's past, make this one last
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
If you keep me waiting, if you keep me waiting
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
If you keep me waiting, if you keep me waiting
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
If you keep me waiting, if you keep me waiting
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
If you keep me waiting, if you keep me waiting
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
If you keep me waiting, if you keep me waiting
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
If you keep me waiting, just you keep me waiting
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, hold on, just hold on
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, hold on, just hold on
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, hold on, just hold on
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, hold on, just hold on
The song "Make This One Last" by Scouting for Girls is a heartfelt ballad about lost love and the pain of moving on after a breakup. The lyrics describe a bittersweet moment of parting between two people, with the singer acknowledging that their love was always going to end, and urging their former partner to take care of themselves and their next love. The pain of the breakup is clear in lines like "Life goes on, now you're gone, it gets better / As the days fall away and the memories fade", but even amid the sadness there is a sense of hope and a desire to make the most of the love that they had.
The song is ultimately a plea to make love last - not just the love they once shared, but any love that comes after it. The image of a candle flickering provides a metaphor for the fragility of love and the responsibility that comes with nurturing it. The repeating line "Make this one last" takes on a new meaning as the song progresses, shifting from a plea to save their own love to a broader hope for love in general.
Overall, "Make This One Last" is a powerful expression of the complexities of love and heartbreak, and the importance of treasuring the moments we have with those we love.
