Candy for the eye and a twinkle in her smile
And she looks like butter wouldn't melt
He's bewitched, her daddy's rich
You can see she comes from money, but she's still a little honey
And it looks like butter wouldn't melt, oh no
"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I never thought I'd say this, but I think you're so
Aw-aw-aw-aw-awfully nice
Is that alright?" She said "fine"
He was a little bit scared, a little apprehensive
He was just a boy from a local comprehensive
But he'd heard that
Posh girls have good manners, but they go like the clappers
'Cause they never got to hang around with boys at school
Posh girls have good manners, but they go like the clappers
'Cause they never got to hang around with boys at school
She seems, pristine, but don't be deceived, 'cause she's not that naive
Although it looks like butter wouldn't melt
He had a fright, that night
She'd opened his eyes to a world of surprise
And the butter, oh the butter it had gone, it had gone
She goes "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh"
With a twinkle in her eye, she said
"Oh my, take me ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-home tonight, tonight"
He was a little bit scared, a little apprehensive
He was just a boy from a local comprehensive
But he'd heard that
Posh girls have good manners, but they go like the clappers
'Cause they never got to hang around with boys at school
Posh girls have good manners, but they go like the clappers
'Cause they never got to hang around with boys at school
There's nothing like a little bit of class
Wrapped up in a perfect arse
There's nothing like a little bit of class
The poor boy never stood a chance
Is it true what they say about posh girls?
(Is it true, is it true what they say?)
Is it true what they say about posh girls?
(Is it true, is it true what they say?)
Is it true what they say?
(Is it true, is it true what they say?)
Is it true what they say about posh girls?
Posh girls have good manners, but they go like the clappers
'Cause they never got to hang around with boys at school
Posh girls have good manners, but they go like the clappers
'Cause they never got to hang around with boys at school
There's nothing like a little bit of class
Wrapped up in a perfect arse
There's nothing like a little bit of class
The poor boy never stood a chance
There's nothing like a little bit of class
They'll all said it's never gonna last
There's nothing like a little bit of class
Wrapped up in a perfect arse
The song "Posh Girls" by Scouting for Girls is a catchy tune about a boy who falls in love with a girl from a wealthy background. The lyrics describe how the boy is intimidated by the girl's looks and her family's wealth, but is ultimately unable to resist her charm. The song's chorus suggests that posh girls may have good manners, but they can also be outgoing and adventurous since they did not have the chance to socialize with boys during their school years. The song's lyrics are full of metaphors and clever wordplay, making it a fun and engaging listen.
The first few lines of the song introduce the girl, who is described as having a classy appearance, a twinkle in her smile, and looking like "butter wouldn't melt." The boy is clearly taken with her, despite being a bit intimidated by her father's wealth. The second verse describes the boy as being scared and apprehensive, but also excited at the prospect of being with the girl. The chorus repeats the idea that posh girls have good manners, but they are also willing to be adventurous due to their sheltered upbringing.
One interesting aspect of "Posh Girls" is the way it uses British slang and references to British culture. The term "clappers" in the chorus, for instance, is a slang term for female genitalia. The line about the girl's "perfect arse" is also a British colloquialism, as is the reference to the boy attending a "local comprehensive," which is a type of British secondary school.
