Read Full Bio ↴Scream Silence is a goth rock band that was founded in Germany in 1998.
In 1999, their first album To Die For was music magazine Orkus's album of the month. With the success of the first album, Scream Silence could go on tours with bands like Christian Death and Dreadful Shadows.

A little more than a year has passed since Scream Silence have cast their spell on both reviewers and the growing fan community. Just 15 months after “Saviourine” the hard working Germans release their sixth work so far.
Scream Silence never looked back to their own created horizons. More and more months of creative work they invested at their label-own Plainsong Studio to build their own musical microcosm and to extend the borders with every of the following four records as well.
“Aphelia”, a word from Greek mythology for the farthest point from the sun, ignites a firework of excellent songs, which are discharging in inexhaustible passion straight into the listener.
At first sight "Aphelia" seems to be rawer than its predecessors. The songs from the new material not only have the band-typical catchy melodies but also much more alternative- or progressive elements. Club-fitting uptempo singles like “Kerosene” or “The Vitriol”, gloomy gothic rock songs as “Harvest” and “In Every Sin” or dark rock hymns like “Nothingness” and “Unspoken” and even the dearly beloved epic ballads “My Eyes” and finally the 10-minute title track “Aphelia” melt into a harmonic concept album of eternal beauty.
The extensive designed artwork of the multiple folding DigiPak cover explains the meaning of the lyrical work. “Aphelia”, a small girl, here the symbol for the fragility of the human soul, strolls between unreal worlds she never belongs to and finally finds her only home world in the darkest of all places – herself.
The limited first edition of the album comes with additional Bonus-Live-Tracks, long awaited by every fan, recorded in December 2006 at the biggest dark music hall in Berlin, the K17.
Scream Silence leave on “Aphelia” an impressive aura of sound fulfilled with songs of remaining beauty and so far unheard lyrical deepness.
The warmest sounds from the coldest sun-farthest place Scream Silence have ever created…..

Scream Silence Lyrics

the frozen pale
and in the purple tune
my nightingale
send me an echo when
the curse begins
i need your confidence
conceal my trace
conceal my vault
conceal it tender at your soul
conceal my face you're my
hideaway
come seal my veils
conceal my wound
conceal the poems at your tongue
conceal my face you're my
hideaway
dont let the crowd close to
my consecrate
they just want detain you
to elevate
stay in oblivion
until i call
and if i crown my sin
the veil will fall
The lyrics of "Asylum" by Scream Silence are rich in metaphor and symbolism, exploring themes of isolation and trust. The singer pleas to a "fellow" to join him in the "frozen pale" and provide comfort like a "nightingale" in the "purple tune." The frozen pale could represent an emotional state, as the cold suggests detachment and the pale suggests lifelessness. The purple tune could represent a state of mind, as purple is the color of creativity and imagination. The nightingale is a symbol of hope and freedom, suggesting that the singer needs someone trustworthy to guide him through this dark and lonely place.
As the song progresses, the singer asks for help in protecting his secrets and concealing his flaws. He pleads for his fellow to "send [him] an echo when the curse begins," which could imply that he needs someone to keep him grounded and remind him of reality when he starts to spiral. He trusts this person to "conceal [his] trace" and "conceal [his] vault" at their own soul, suggesting that he has something valuable to protect. At the same time, he asks for his fellow to "conceal [his] wound" and "conceal the poems at [their] tongue," revealing that he is vulnerable and creative. The repetition of "conceal my face, you're my hideaway" reinforces the idea that the singer perceives himself as needing to hide from the world, and that he trusts this person to be his safe haven.
In the final stanza, the singer warns his fellow to stay away from the "crowd" who "just want detain you to elevate." This could relate to a toxic social circle or an exploitative system; either way, the singer perceives it as a threat to his confidant. He asks them to "stay in oblivion until [he] call," suggesting that he will only reach out when he needs help, and that his fellow needs to be patient and understanding. Finally, he acknowledges that he may "crown [his] sin" and that the "veil [will] fall," meaning that he will be exposed and vulnerable. He trusts that his fellow will still be there for him, even when he's at his worst.
