Get Out Of The Way
Screaming Mechanical Brain Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If I had seen you strive
If there were minimal effort
Or a reason why
Nothing I have seen
Could possibly redeem
The apathetic wretch that's standing
Where you used to be
Where you used to be
Where you used to be
You've had your chance get out of the way
You've had your chance get out of the way
You've had your chance get out of the way
Out of the way
Out of the way
Don't tell me about regret
I don't need an apology
Stop living in the past
If it's one big tragedy
We will stay the course
Long after you're gone
It would have been much easier
Without you all along
Without you all along
Without you
You've had your chance get out of the way
You've had your chance get out of the way
You've had your chance get out of the way
Out of the way
Out of the way
You've had all your life to prove yourself to me
You've had all your life to prove yourself to me
You've had all your life to prove yourself to me
You've had all your life to prove yourself to me
You've had your chance get out of the way
You've had your chance get out of the way
You've had your chance get out of the way
Out of the way
Out of the way
In the song "Get Out Of The Way" by Screaming Mechanical Brain, the lyrics are directed towards someone who has failed to make an effort or strive towards something. The singer expresses disappointment and frustration towards this person as they stand in the way of progress. The lyrics state that if there had been even minimal effort, it could have possibly redeemed the person, but now they have lost their chance to prove themselves.
The chorus "You've had your chance get out of the way" is a clear message for the person to move aside and let others take the lead. The singer is no longer willing to wait for them to catch up or make an effort. The lyrics also suggest that the person is living in the past and should stop dwelling on their past failures or mistakes. The singer's determination to move forward is highlighted as they state that they will stay the course long after the person is gone.
Overall, the song is a call for action and accountability. It encourages people to make an effort towards their goals and not hinder the progress of others. The message is delivered with an aggressive and hard-hitting tone that emphasizes the urgency of the situation.
