During one of the band's many break-ups, Weasel and Vapid also formed the Riverdales. Additionally, Ben Weasel released a solo record in 2002 entitled Fidatevi.

Cancer in My Body
Screeching Weasel Lyrics

Waiting to multiply
And I want them out of there
I've got a butcher knife
I'll keep cutting 'til I find them
'Cause I want them out of there
I don't care if you don't care
There's a cancer in my body
The lyrics to Screeching Weasel's song "Cancer in My Body" may seem quite literal at first glance, depicting the desire to rid oneself of cancerous cells that may be lurking within. However, upon further analysis, the song takes on a deeper meaning. The cancer can be seen as a metaphor for the negative or toxic things in one's life that are weighing them down and causing pain. The desire to cut them out and remove them from one's life is a universal feeling, as we all have things we wish to purge from our lives in order to achieve happiness and fulfillment.
The lines "I'll keep cutting 'til I find them" and "I don't care if you don't care" also speak to the idea of taking control of one's own life, regardless of what others may think or say. It takes bravery to confront and deal with our problems, and the song encourages listeners to take charge of their own lives and do what is necessary to find peace.
Overall, "Cancer in My Body" is a powerful song with both literal and metaphorical meanings. It encourages listeners to confront their problems head-on, take control of their own lives, and do what is necessary to find happiness and fulfillment.
