Members of Screeching Weasel have gone on to form bands such as: The Methadones, The Mopes, Even in Blackouts, and Sweet Black And Blue.
Screeching Weasel has also included members of Green Day, Sludgeworth, Common Rider, Squirtgun, and Teen Idols.
During one of the band's many break-ups, Weasel and Vapid also formed the Riverdales. Additionally, Ben Weasel released a solo record in 2002 entitled Fidatevi.
In 2004 Ben Weasel rescinded all of the Screeching Weasel and Riverdales masters from Lookout! Records in the wake of long-running financial and personal conflicts. The masters were subsequently licensed to and reissued by Asian Man Records.
On December 7, 2010, it was announced that Screeching Weasel will release a new album on March 15, 2011, the band's first album in eleven years. Ben apologized for his actions, but all of the perfect people who never loose there cool were not satisfied.
Ben and his hired band had a falling out. He found out who his true friends and fans were. After over a year of spending time with his family and raising a new baby, he released Carnival of Schadenfreude EP in 2011 with huge interest and has resumed his music career again full swing.
Identity Crisis
Screeching Weasel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In Screeching Weasel's song "Identity Crisis," the lyrics address the issue of individuals who seem to lack a strong sense of self-identity. The song questions who these people are, what they believe, and why they even care about others' opinions. The artist expresses their belief that these individuals are just taking up space and should make up their minds and be decisive or leave.
Throughout the song, there are many references to how these people try too hard to get attention and how they have multiple personalities. However, the artist makes it clear that it is not their problem if these individuals do not know who they are. The lyrics also suggest that a smile will not replace the lack of character, and these individuals may feel neglected because they are always stuck in the back.
The song's chorus highlights the idea of a new beginning each day, with a fresh new identity, and questions what clothes to wear or how to style their hair, almost showing a lack of authenticity. In the end, the lyrics imply that these individuals may dish out gossip, but they will eventually find out that no one really cares.
Overall, "Identity Crisis" is a critique of those individuals who struggle with their self-identity, crave attention, and lack character. The song suggests that there is a need for self-reflection, self-acceptance, and a strong sense of who one truly is.
