During one of the band's many break-ups, Weasel and Vapid also formed the Riverdales. Additionally, Ben Weasel released a solo record in 2002 entitled Fidatevi.

Ben apologized for his actions, but all of the perfect people who never loose there cool were not satisfied.

Last Night
Screeching Weasel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Screeching Weasel's song Last Night describe a desperate feeling of loneliness and despair. The singer is calling out to someone who was not there when they needed them the most. The phrase "where were you last night when I needed you" is repeated, emphasizing the singer's sense of abandonment. The use of the word "just" in the line "just to be around me for a while" suggests that the singer doesn't require much from this person, just their presence.
The imagery in the following lines is striking and vivid. The line "the worms crawled in the worms crawled out" is a reference to a traditional children's song about a funeral. It's possible that the use of this line is a nod to the idea of death and decay. The phrase "they tap-danced on my snout" is an unexpected and somewhat humorous image that contrasts with the darker theme of the rest of the song. The line "like I'd already died" adds to the feeling of hopelessness that pervades the lyrics.
The next stanza continues the apocalyptic imagery. The crumbling buildings and falling sky are instances of chaos and destruction. The phrase "and I was going down for the last time" could refer to the singer's own personal collapse. Overall, the song is a stark portrayal of loneliness and desperation. The dark imagery creates a somber mood, and the repetition of the phrase "last night" reinforces the idea of a single moment of profound pain.
