You left me standing
All I had was some potato chips, a can of warm beer, and a face full of zits
Then a barrel full of slime rolled over me
I was burning
So now I am the living dead and
I am gonna have your head tonight
I want your brain!
Gonna step on your head, gonna break your bones,
Gonna rip your eyes out from their holes
I'm gonna get you baby
Don't try to give me your excuse
I just want to get back at you
I want your brain
The lyrics to Screeching Weasel's song "Zombie" tell a story of abandonment and revenge. The singer is left alone at a shopping mall with nothing but potato chips, warm beer, and a face full of zits. Suddenly, they are attacked by a barrel full of slime, leaving them burning and transformed into a zombie. Overcome by the desire for revenge, the zombie seeks to devour the person who abandoned them, craving their brain above all else.
The lyrics tap into common themes of abandonment, betrayal, and revenge, as the zombie seeks to regain power and control over the person who wronged them. The imagery of the barrel of slime and the transformation into a zombie adds a touch of horror to the song, while the focus on brains as the ultimate goal of the zombie's revenge plays into the popularized idea of zombies as brain-eating monsters. Overall, the lyrics of "Zombie" are a creative and imaginative take on the classic horror trope of the zombie and its quest for brains.
