"Se So Neon" usually means "New Youngsters" in Korean. It was the name of children’s magazine published from 1960s to 1980s. The band borrowed its name from the magazine, found in an independent bookstore. Mainly based on psychedelic rock, they smartly mingle the shining elements of rock history and deliver them with crisp energy.
Despite being a young band, they have already become the most anticipated rock act of Korean indie scene, winning awards like Rookie of the Year and Best Rock Song at the Korean Music Awards and appearing in prestigious best of the year lists like the ocidental music critic site Pitchfork.

The lyrics to Se So Neon's song "Black Sun" convey a complex mix of emotions and experiences. The opening lines suggest the presence of darkness and sadness, as the singer references a black sun and the overwhelming weight of melancholy. The phrase "Jong-il byeot-eul naeliji" can be interpreted as a desire to escape from daily routine and mundane existence.
As the song progresses, however, there is a shift in perspective. The singer finds solace in a certain beauty and wonder despite the sorrow. They acknowledge the profound impact of someone's tears, indicating a deep connection and understanding between two individuals. The lines "Neoneun naege mul-eossji / Mwoga munjenji / Niga naege jugodo / Neon ij-eobeolin geos" suggest that the person's tears have revealed hidden truths and vulnerabilities, strengthening the bond between them.
The chorus emphasizes this newfound appreciation for the interplay between beauty and sorrow, expressing a sense of being overwhelmed by it. The lines "How beautiful / How wonderful / Seulpeum-ui chugje / Na michidolog" convey a mixture of awe and madness in response to the bittersweet experiences shared with this person. The lyrics continue to express the desire to embrace and heal from the pain, acknowledging the possibility of a new dawn and a gradual release from the burdens of the past.
Overall, "Black Sun" captures the nuanced nature of human emotions, the blurred lines between light and dark, and the transformative power of shared experiences.
