On September 22, 2009, Sea Wolf's sophomore album, White Water, White Bloom was released by Dangerbird Records. The album was produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, M. Ward) at his studio in Omaha.
Sea Wolf contributed a song entitled “Song of the Magpie” to the audio book for Augusten Burroughs’ book “A Wolf at the Table.” Burroughs asked Sea Wolf’s Alex Brown Church to read the book and respond with an original song.
In addition to Alex Brown Church, the other members of Sea Wolf are currently Lisa Fendelander (keyboards), Theodore Liscinski (bass), Joey Ficken (drums), Nathan Anderson (guitar), and Joyce Lee (cello).
The band's third album, Old World Romance, was released in 2012.
After fulfilling Sea Wolf's contract with the label, the band took to Kickstarter in 2013 to fund a striped-down album with simliar tones to the early days of Sea Wolf. The project was fully-funded and released to backers in May 2014. The album, Song Spells, No. 1: Cedarsmoke was released on Spotify and on seawolfmusic.com as a free-or-pay-what-you-want in July 2014. Alex Brown Church stated that there are plans for additional "Song Spells" albums.
Winter Windows

He sits alone upon the chair his father left him
In the dark, in the dark, in the dark with the radio on
The voice crackles when he says that God will save you
He will take you from the lonely life you're living
If you give, if you give, if you give up on what you want
He stops and watches the birds through the winter windows
And the light, and the light from the morning dew
"I thought I love you and our love would be forever
How could I hit you, the only one who ever loved me?"
Said the man, said the man to his shadow
This is the world, this is the world we live in
It's not the one I choose but it's the one we're given
This is the world, this is the world we live in
And it's the winter windows that ends become beginnings
Yep!
As a boy he was taught he was the bad one
One that could heed the other, the protector
He will walk, he will walk, he will walk into the river
Sixty years held down by his brother
Ten years with the ghost of his father
And five years since he spoke, since he spoke to his only son
This is the world, this is the world we live in
It's not the one I choose but it's the one we're given
This is the world, this is the world we live in
And it's the winter windows that ends become beginnings
Yes, it's the winter windows that ends become beginnings
Sea Wolf's song "Winter Windows" tells the story of a man who is isolated and alone in a room in the forest. He is sitting in the dark with the radio on and hears a voice that crackles and tells him that God will save him. The man pours himself another drink and watches the birds through the winter windows. He questions himself about a past relationship and how he could hit the one who loved him. The man sees himself as the bad one; the one who could harm others and not protect them. He contemplates walking into the river to end it all. The song ends on the idea that our endings become beginnings and that the choices we make shape the world around us.
The song includes themes of isolation, introspection, and regret. It highlights the idea that our perceptions of ourselves shape our choices and, ultimately, our lives. The winter windows represent endings and beginnings, and the man's choice to either end it all or start anew.
