The use and the balance of contradictions are an important trademark of Seabound. The songs range from cold, synthetic, sometimes harsh sounds to catchy, sometimes fragile melodies, merging day and night.
The lyrics deal with obsession, devotion, doubts, anger and fear. Yet there is always an underlying craving for fulfillment in the songs, a quest for love. Seabound combine vulnerability with anger, fantasies of power with fear. An ubiquitous theme of their songs is the challenge of confronting your deepest and most personal desires.
Their music is personal and honest, but blended with a lot of fantasy. They offer very personal insights into the psyche and they would like to take you on a strange emotional journey.
They also sing about the sea and boat-related things.

Icarus
Seabound Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Your life is on hold
Underneath the paint you're rotting
You can't fool them anymore
You proclaim the obvious
You stopped praying to the gods
I tried to pray for you
Nothing I can do
The first two lines of Seabound's song Icarus speaks about how one's decision to purchase something is a binding agreement that puts their life on hold. In other words, acquiring something may hamper personal growth or progress. The next two lines, "Underneath the paint you're rotting/You can't fool them anymore", can be interpreted in various ways. It could be interpreted as a metaphor for hiding one's true identity or insecurities with material things, but it can also be taken quite literally, speaking of a person who may look good on the outside but is slowly decaying on the inside.
The third line "You proclaim the obvious" refers to the person being called out for stating the obvious, maybe not adding any new insights, or not providing anything new to the conversation or circumstance. The fourth line takes a turn, as it moves from observing the other to the singer making a decision to pray for them, despite the seemingly hopeless situation. However, they soon realize that their efforts are ineffective, as the last line says "But there's nothing I can do/Nothing I can do." The song ends on that message of resignation, emphasizing the idea that some things are beyond our control.
