The name Seafret, as well as being a pun on the guitar fret board, is also a local term for the two boys; it applies to the rolling mists that come in off the North Sea during summer. Now living in London, the sea is what the duo miss the most.
First meeting at an open mic night around 2011, the two had distinctly different levels of experience. Though a few years younger, Harry Draper was an experienced local musician; Jack Sedman, meanwhile, had quite literally only just discovered his voice.
Seafret released their debut EP 'Give Me Something' on Sweet Jane Recordings on September 21st 2014. The ‘Give Me Something’ EP features five tracks, ‘Give Me Something’, ‘Explosion’, ‘Play With Guns’, ‘Did We Miss The Morning’ and an acoustic version of ‘Give Me Something’ that bookends the EP.

Give Me Something
Seafret Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What's the truth, give me something
Take me down a road I believe in
Lost the way, lost all reason
Give me something
Search the past for redemption
Broken glass, no reflection
Lost my way, lost all reason
Through the ruins, trying to save it
'For I fall out, show me somehow I can make it
All that we gave, was it wasted?
Falling down broke, only one hope
That you make it
Give me something
Give me something
Give me something
To hold onto
I've got nothing
Since I lost you
The lyrics of Seafret's song Give Me Something convey a deep sense of loss and longing for something authentic and true. The opening line "What you say tells me nothing, what's the truth, give me something" expresses the frustration of not being able to trust the words of another person, and the desire for them to reveal their true intentions or feelings. The chorus "Give me something, to hold on to, I've got nothing since I lost you" portrays the loneliness and emptiness that come from losing someone, and the longing for something to fill the void.
The second verse "Search the past for redemption, broken glass no reflection, take me to a place I believe in, lost my way, lost all reason" suggests a theme of seeking closure or understanding from past events. The image of broken glass with no reflection indicates a loss of self or identity, and the desire to find a place to belong. The bridge "Through the ruins, trying to save it, before I fall out, show me somehow I can make it, all that we gave, was it wasted?" highlights the struggle to salvage what is left of a relationship or situation before it is too late, and the fear of everything having been in vain.
Overall, the lyrics of Give Me Something are beautifully poignant and relatable to anyone who has experienced loss or uncertainty. The raw emotion captured in the song is underscored by Seafret's haunting melodies and stripped-down instrumentation. The song is a powerful reminder that sometimes all we need is someone or something to hold onto in difficult times.

Sou inteiramente a tua bússola
Mas uma bússola defeituosa
Um dia quem sabe
Em outro universo
Em outra vida
Em outro planeta
Serei teu
E tu serás minha
