Silhouette
Seahaven Lyrics

Silhouette (Latin Skin):

And your friends, are they dangerous?
And if they are, well how much?
And your friends, are they glamorous?
And if they are, I've lost interest

Silhouette, loose sundress, low sunset, baby
Desert heat, come with me, just one drink, thirsty
This city ain't safe at sundown

And your chest; does it sound a beat?
And if it does we can never be

Silhouette, loose sundress, low sunset, baby
Desert heat, come with me, just one drink, thirsty
This city ain't safe at sundown

I thought you noticed all our blemish,
Didn't you know this is temporary?

Inject a face into a memory
Extract before you reach the final scene
That way you will only be left with the grave
And not the hell to pay

Silhouette, loose sundress, low sunset, baby

Desert heat, come with me, just one drink, thirsty
This city ain't safe at sundown

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Seahaven's song "Silhouette (Latin Skin)" seem to be about a relationship or a potential romantic encounter between the singer and their subject. The first stanza poses a series of questions about the subject's friends and their level of danger or glamour. It's unclear whether the singer is genuinely concerned or simply trying to make conversation, as they quickly admit to losing interest in the answers. The second stanza paints a vivid picture of the setting – a desert sunset, a loose sundress, and a dangerous city after dark. The presence of the subject's beating chest suggests a mutual attraction, but the singer quickly dismisses it as impossible.

The chorus repeats the opening image of the "silhouette" in the "loose sundress" against the "low sunset," as well as emphasizing the "desert heat" and the singer's thirst. The line "this city ain't safe at sundown" adds a note of danger and urgency to the scene. The final stanza brings up the idea of impermanence or transience, suggesting that the subject is aware of their own flaws and that everything is fleeting. The line "inject a face into a memory, extract before you reach the final scene" implies a deliberate attempt to preserve only the good parts of the encounter, leaving behind only a memory or a "grave" rather than a "hell to pay."

Overall, the lyrics of "Silhouette (Latin Skin)" evoke a sense of fleeting desire and danger, set against a backdrop of hot desert nights and temporary connections.

This is by far my favourite album by Seahaven, real musicians playing real music.

Colin Morris

I really enjoyed this record. Don't understand all the hate for it. Sure it's not Winter Forever, that's who the band was then, not now. This album has a "dreamlike" "sunsetting on the beach" vibe which is I guess what they were going for, but it works and was done well. I love it when good bands try a different style, when they do we get great albums like this one.

Mikael Hållander

I like Winter Forever a whole lot but since an album with that sound already exist they don't have to make another one. So I agree with you.

Mikael Hållander winter forever made me just and go crazy, but this one just touch my soul.

The instrumentation is fantastic, and Kyle is gorgeous. I'm also totally into their aesthetic. All around Seahaven is fucking great.
