All My Life
Sean Connery Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I'll love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I'll love you more

Overall Meaning

In "In My Life," Sean Connery reflects on places, people, and experiences from his life. He remarks that, while many of these things have changed or vanished, they still hold significant memories for him. He mentions lovers and friends, some of whom have passed away, but all of whom he still remembers with fondness.

However, the most significant person in his life is the one he is currently with, the one he compares all others to. Though he knows he will always remember and cherish those who came before her, her love has allowed him to move on from those memories and see love "as something new." Yet, he is aware that he will still often think about and hold affection for those who have been part of his life's journey.

The lyrics of "In My Life" speak to the idea that our lives are continuously changing and evolving, but the memories and people we encounter along the way shape who we are and stay with us always. It is a poignant reflection on the beauty and value of our life experiences and the people we love and have loved.

Nessuno è paragonabile a te

I'm a Beatles fan and admit that I don't usually like covers of their work. However, this man took what I have always believed to be The Beatles' best and most pure song, and he has added a new depth and poignancy to it. Thank you for posting this, because this version always brings a lump to my throat.

Geoff Hilton

I totally agree with you, this version always gives me a lump in the throat, I love it as much as the Beatles version.

Ray Talbot

I’ve got this in my order of service on my last day

Gabriela

Completely agree with your comment. Huge Beatles fan. I thought I was going to hate it, but I was wrong.
Also in my list of music for my funeral service.

It gives me a lump in my throat, too, and brings tears to my eyes. Someone once said, imagine having Sean Connery, James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman on a talk show together. What a collection of wonderful voices that would have been. Too late now, but it would have been worth listening to and watching. RIP Sir Sean. At least I can watch The Hunt for Red October and The Name of the Rose to hear you again. ❤

Ariadne

There is nothing like a challenge to bring out the best in man.

So heartbreaking that this wonderful man is not with us anymore. And this rendition is such beautiful interpretation. Thank you, George, John, Paul and Sean

And Ringo... 🙂 There is some subtle percussion on the original version.

RIP Sean... you made James Bond more than it made you...
This song was made as if it were written for Sean...

The man who would be king ..what a film .What a performance. Sad to say we are losing the greats to age , but the memories will never be erased .
