Lightning
Secret Band Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If I arrive all withered, take a break to bake
Scythe-like reaper right beside the state
I don't get bitter, I step to all plates
You can probably show up in a beer hat
You can probably hack inside a Learjet
I'mma brang, brang the gear up the back
I'mma rang, rang up the shoes I go
I'm fricking ripping pen hits on the side, time flies
I'll pay the price for badass fish
I like the taste of your hip on my lip, bomb shit
You can probably show up in a beer hat
You can probably hack inside a lear jet
I'mma brang, brang the gear up the back
I'mma rang, rang up the shoes I go
Why pillage nine to nine to nine?
It's all a million pills and popped blisters
Why pillage nine to nine to nine?
It's all a billion thrills till your dick hurt
What you gonna do with a baby bladder?
Pee on all your clothes when it really matters
I eat all Asian, still got way fatter
I've outgrown hoes and moved onto food platters
Lamps is nice, moths in flight
I cry for antelopes, tears for ratites
Only do, no more try
Feels much better putting up a fight
Why come get her when it's great to wait?
If I arrive all withered, take a break to bake
Scythe-like reaper, right beside the state
I don't get bitter, I step to all plates
I'm sick of this bald headed baby stuff
I wanna grow up and not spill my guts
Complain how it isn't fair
That I can't own a thousand tiny little bears
Say you, wanna hang around for a little while longer
Maybe we were stronger with two or you
Get something out of it, better than without it
Nothing left to shout about
Draining my time
Spending my life in a stew, -ew, -ew
I'm smoking your pee pee and
Drinking all of your poo poo poo
Unimpressed, unimpressed, ya
Unimpressed, unimpressed, ya
Unimpressed, unimpressed
I made lightning for you, I made lightning for you
Strike twice and you didn't even say tight
I made lightning for you, I made lightning for you
Strike twice and you didn't even say tight
Unimpressed, unimpressed, ya
Unimpressed, unimpressed, ya
Unimpressed, unimpressed, ya
Unimpressed, unimpressed
I made lightning for you, I made lightning for you
Strike twice and you didn't even say tight
I made lightning for you, I made lightning for you
Strike twice and you didn't even say tight
In "Lightning" by Secret Band, the lyrics delve into themes of impatience, dissatisfaction with routine, and a desire for something more exciting or meaningful. The opening lines, "Why come get her when it's great to wait? If I arrive all withered, take a break to bake," suggest a reluctance to rush into something or someone when it might be more rewarding to wait and allow anticipation to build. The mention of a "scythe-like reaper" and not getting bitter but instead stepping up to challenge and take on various opportunities or tasks implies a fearless and determined attitude towards life.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of self-indulgence and pushing boundaries. Lines like "You can probably show up in a beer hat, You can probably hack inside a Learjet" suggest a disregard for conventional behavior or rules. There is a sense of confidence and rebellion in these lines, as if the singer feels capable of defying expectations and norms.
The second verse delves into a variety of random and seemingly unrelated thoughts. The lines "Why pillage nine to nine to nine? It's all a million pills and popped blisters" can be interpreted as questioning the purpose or value of relentless pursuit or overindulgence. The mention of a "baby bladder" and eating "all Asian" could be read as a commentary on childish impulses and a desire to break free from immaturity. The mention of "lamps is nice, moths in flight" and crying for "antelopes" and "ratites" adds an element of surrealism to the song, emphasizing the unpredictable and unhinged nature of the singer's thoughts.

Jon mess is one of the most underrated frontmen of all time the way his vocals range and change from the first DGD EP to their self titled album with a deeper growl yet understandable lyrics then hitting the exact mark in Acceptance Speech then making them a little more hardcore in mothership and artificial selection and now reaching the peak of his voice he’s shown us that he is going to be a threat for years to come always will be always have been

Jon Mess has like low key crept up into the absolute top tier of screamers. Whole song slaps! Super psyched for the full release!

@Lil MINI yeah. I know he has done it, but it's just so good. Gospel Burnout he does it too.
Im just in love. Haha :)
@joshisnot11
Pussy Vultures I think is his best use of "pitch screaming".
During that chorus he fucking kills it.
Super raspy but still hitting notes.
Reminds me of old It Prevails in some ways.
Mess's vocals will always be some of my favorite.
