Sekumpulan Orang Gila (SOG) is an uprising Post-Hardcore/Metalcore band from Batu Caves, Malaysia. Consists of six talented commoner, they are Acap (vocal/scream), Adek (guitar/clean vocal), Nazrin (guitar/clean vocal/bamboo flute/cello), Lee (drums), Mel (bass) and Naz (keys/synth). Since then, SOG expanded their music influences when Nazrin, Adek and Naz utilize their music knowledges that they grasp from Faculty of Music in UiTM Shah Alam into SOG, and they also added some native world music such as African, Indian and Arabic beats + melodies, plus Malay traditional tunes and some classical elements from baroque and romantic period. As a result, SOG created a massive crossover/hybrid tune that made them more flexible to perform in any event such as total-underground gigs, prom nights, corporate events, acoustic sessions and even mainstream stages.
People always asked “Why is your band’s name 'Sekumpulan Orang Gila' (A Bunch of Crazy Dudes)?”. You guys will know why after watching their live performances. They use this name name as their asset during their shows. With full of teen angst, they perform with high attitude, hyper and energetic showmanship plus creating tight performances. Sometimes, they also bring up rare music instruments when performing in a band such as Cello and Bamboo Flute to create a difference between SOG and other bands. Sometimes SOG perform such rare music-visual sets that embark audience to experience a deeper musical journey.
SOG became the champion at Battle Of Acoustics 2010 at Lepaq Cafe, Kelana Jaya and NAZRIN won 2nd place in KEYNOTE 2010 (a brand new ASTRO reality TV show searching for talented composer and producer around Malaysia). SOG also shared stage with lots of popular local and international artistes such as Indonesian top mainstream artistes, Nidji, D'Masiv, Geisha & Astrid and USA's top-screamo bands, EYES SET TO KILL & A SKYLIT DRIVE. Recently, SOG won a high-profile competition, Celcom UOX Battle'11 that was held at Opera Sunway Pyramid defeating more than 100 bands throughout Malaysia. Now they are currently under Universal Music Malaysia and endorsed by Arkaik Clothing, one of the hottest clothing label in USA
