Can you feel me when I think about you?
With every breath I take
Every minute, no matter what I do
My world is an empty place
Like I've been wanderin' the desert
For a thousand days (oh-huh)
But I always see your face, baby
I'm missing you so much
Can't help it, I'm in love
A day without you is like a year without rain
I need you by my side
Don't know how I'll survive
A day without you is like a year without rain
Oh oh oh, woah, woah
The stars are burning
I hear your voice in my mind (it's in my mind)
Can't you hear me calling
My heart is yearning
Like the ocean that's running dry
Catch me I'm falling
It's like the ground is crumbling underneath my feet
Won't you save me
There's gonna be a monsoon
When you get back to me
Oh baby
I'm missing you so much
Can't help it, I'm in love (love)
A day without you is like a year without rain
I need you by my side (side)
Don't know how I'll survive
A day without you is like a year without rain
Oh oh oh, woah woah
So let this drought come to an end
And may this desert flower again
I'm so glad you found me
Stick around me
Baby, baby, baby, whoa
It's a world of wonder
With you in my life
So hurry baby, don't waste no more time
And I need you here
I can't explain
But a day without you
Is like a year without rain
Oh oh oh
I'm missing you so much (much)
Can't help it, I'm in love
A day without you is like a year without rain
I need you by my side (side)
Don't know how I'll survive
A day without you is like a year without rain
Oh oh oh, woah woah
Ooh, ouh
"A Year Without Rain" is a romantic ballad by Selena Gomez that talks about the intense feeling of missing someone. The song describes a feeling of emptiness that comes with separation from someone beloved, so much so that it feels like a year without rain. The song opens with a chorus, where the singer asks her love interest if he can feel her when she thinks about him. Gomez sings passionately that her world feels empty without her loved one, which is metaphorically compared to wandering in a desert for a thousand days. Though she's not sure if she's delusional, all she can see is the face of the person she's missing. The singer references the natural elements and compares missing someone to a drought and the stars to symbolize distance; nevertheless, she still hears his voice in her mind.
The second verse of "A Year Without Rain" expresses the depths of the singer's longing for her loved one. She feels like the ground is crumbling beneath her feet, and she is falling, calling out for the other person to catch her. It explains that the emptiness is so consuming that it feels like the ocean that's going dry. In the bridge, the singer asks for the drought to end and for the various elements of nature to come together to make things right. Finally, Selena sings that the world is a place of wonder when her significant other is by her side, and she begs him not to waste any more time before ending the song with another chorus.
