Of a thousand faces
Yeah, I found you, ooh, ooh, ooh
I chose the whys and the whens
All around and places
Yeah, I chose you, ooh, ooh, ooh
I let you see me
So smooth, my rules
Well, you think you are the one
Who got me, boy
No, I got you
I've been playing with you
Like a little toy
Yeah, I got you
I got you
I got you
You'd be surprised all the
Times that I almost told you
But I stayed cool, oh
I almost broke, but
I knew I would get to hold you
Cause I'm no fool, oh
You came back to me
And did the very thing I knew
That you'd do, oh ooh oh
Well, you think you are the one
Who got me, boy
No, I got you
I've been playing with you
Like a little toy
Yeah, I got you
I got you
I got you
You gave me all control
(I got you)
I took your heart and soul
(I got you)
For me, I'm gonna roll
I got you, you, you, ooh
(I got you, oh yeah)
(I got you, and I love it)
(I got you)
(Yeah, I got you)
(I got you, and I love it)
(I got you)
(Yeah, I got you)
Well, you think you are the one
Who got me, boy
No, I got you
I've been playing with you
Like a little toy
Yeah, I got you
I got you
I got you
(I got you, and I love it)
(I got you)
(Yeah, I got you)
(I got you, and I love it)
(I got you)
(Yeah, I got you)
The song "I Got U" by Selena Gomez & the Scene is a bold and sassy statement about a woman's empowerment in a relationship. The lyrics are full of double entendres and innuendos, which make the song more compelling to the listener. The chorus, "Well, you think you are the one who got me, boy, no, I got you, I've been playing with you like a little toy, yeah, I got you," reveals the clear power dynamic in the relationship - the singer is the one in control. The use of the phrase, "playing with you like a little toy," is particularly noteworthy, as it suggests that the singer is manipulating her partner for her own pleasure.
In the first verse, the singer talks about how she handpicked her partner from a "crowd of a thousand faces." This setup is important because it shows how the singer is very picky, and only the best will do. She then proceeds to tease her partner, letting him believe that he is making all the right moves, when in fact, she is the one in control. In the second verse, the singer talks about how close she was to revealing her true feelings for her partner, but only held back to maintain her power. Overall, the song is an intelligent commentary on the struggles of power dynamics in relationships.
