Their first LP "Selig", a grungey album with hippie elements, was released in 1994. The singles "Sie hat geschrien" ("She Screamed") and "Wenn ich wollte" ("If I wanted to") entered the German charts almost immediately.
In 1995 the second album "Hier" ("Here") was released. Its darker style was referred to by the band itself as hippie metal. The LP reached Germany's Top 20 Album Charts. The single releases "Ist es wichtig?" ("Does it matter?"), "Lass mich rein" ("Let Me In") and "Bruderlos"("Brotherless") all entered the billboard charts.
In 1997 the band released a more pop-orientated album named "Blender" ("Dazzler") and finally a best-of compilation "Für immer und selig" ("Forever and Selig")
before disbanding in 1999.
In 2009 Selig reunited and released the new album "Und Endlich Unendlich" ("And Finally Infinite"). A new website has been put up at www.selig.eu.
Not even a year later, on 1. octobre 2010 they released the album Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit ("From Eternity to Eternity"), which featured less ballads than "Und Endlich Unendlich" and showcased a more rockier and experimental approach.
Winter
Selig Lyrics

Jagt Trümmer Blick den Größenwahn
Auferstanden abzuhauen
Durch Zellophan gut durchzuschau'n
Helft dem Mann in der Heilsarmee
Tretet ein ins hohe C
Suchtgebärden halten sich
Ahhahha !!!
Andacht auf vorweg genommen
Und leckt es auch durchs Dachbeton
Dieb gefaßt im Unterleib
Messe aus der Tag vorbei
Lutsch den Pfennig urnengroß
Kniegefällig Gnadenstoß
Ahhahha !!!
The lyrics of Selig's song Winter is a bit cryptic and can be difficult to interpret. The song seems to talk about themes of religion, salvation, and society. The first part of the song talks about Jesus or someone who wishes to emulate him talking about the need to be humble and avoid pride or arrogance.
In the second part, the song talks about the importance of helping others such as the man in the Salvation army who probably represents people who are downtrodden or in need of help. Then the song mentions the importance of music and how it can be a source of comfort to people, especially those who are searching for something or in pain.
The third part of the song talks about the idea of sacrifice and how sometimes we need to give up something to get a greater reward or to help others. The lyrics make references to stealing and perhaps the idea that sometimes people do bad things for the greater good.
Overall, the song seems to be an exploration of complex themes like religion, society, morality, and the human condition. It may be difficult to pin down the exact interpretation of the lyrics, but the song is certainly thought-provoking and engaging.

Zunächst mal eines: Der Text ist echt geil. Das Video in der Mitte, da fehlt was. Einen Chor im Refrain und nach einigen Worten (zurückhaltend dabei) reinhauen und dann knallt das Ding richtig durch!
