Let me in whee-ooh (whee-ooh, whee-ooh, hoop-whee-ooh)
(Whee-ooh, whee-ooh, hoo-ooh-oop-whee-ooh, whee-ooh)

I can see the dancin' (let me in)
The silhouettes on the shade
I hear the music (music), all the lovers on parade
Open up (let me in), I want to come in again
I thought you were my friend

Pitter patter of those fee-ee-ee-ee-eet
Movin' and a-groovin' with that be-eat
Jumpin' and stompin on the flo-o-o-o-oor
(Lemme in) Let me in!
(Open up) Open up!
Why don't you open up that door? (let me in)

I-uh (open up) hear music let me in (music)
I want to come in again
Let me in (let me in), a-well I heard it just then
I thought you were my friend

(Whee-ooh, whee-ooh, hoop-whee-ooh)
(Whee-ooh, whee-ooh, hoo-ooh-oop-whee-ooh, whee-ooh)

Pitter patter of the fee-ee-ee-ee-eet
Movin' and a-groovin' with that be-eat
Jumpin' and stompin on the flo-o-o-o-oor
(Lemme in) Let me in!
(Open up) Open up!
Why don't you open up that door? (let me in)

I-uh-I-uh-I (open up) hear music, let me in (music)
Oh I heard it just then
Let me in (let me in)
I want to come in again
I thought you were my friend

(Whee-ooh, whee-ooh, hoop-whee-ooh)
(Whee-ooh, whee-ooh, hoo-ooh-oop-whee-ooh)
(Hoo-ooh-oop-whee-ooh)
(Hoo-ooh-oop-whee-ooh)

FADE
(Hoo-ooh-oop-whee-ooh)

Overall Meaning

The song Let Me In by Sensations is an upbeat track with a clear message of a person who wants to join a party or a group of people, but is being denied entry. The lyrics describe the person's attempts to plead with the person who is blocking the entrance, and they mention how they can see and hear the fun happening inside, and how they thought the person blocking the entrance was their friend. The repeated chorus of "let me in" is a clear indication of the person's frustration and desperation to join in on the fun.

The imagery used in the song, such as "the silhouettes on the shade" and "movin' and a-groovin' with that beat," adds to the party vibe of the song. The use of the phrase "pitter patter of the feet" also highlights the urgency and excitement of the situation, as if the partygoers are dancing so hard that their feet are barely touching the ground.

Overall, the lyrics of Let Me In convey a longing to be included in the carefree fun of a party or gathering, and the frustration of being denied entry.

When my husband and I were dating, he came to the door one night and sang part of this song. For 55 more years when we heard it play we would turn it up and sing it! I miss him every single day, but hearing this song makes me smile

As a former drummer from the late 50's to the mid-60's, I really enjoyed playing "Let Me In" by The Sensations. It was a difficult song to play due to the syncopating timing beat, but I still enjoyed playing it by request from our musically adroit fans! Thanks for the memory video from the best years of my life!
