Calling All Cars
Senses Fail Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Calling all cars we've got another victim
'Cause my love has become an affliction
What did you expect from me?
What did you expect from me?

I'm sorry but think I got to mention
That I lied at my very first confession
What did you expect from me?
What did you expect from me?

'Cause this has been building since I have been breathing
And I know how it's going to end

So will you scatter my ashes where they won't be found?
I kept my word when I swore that I would let you down
And now that I'm gone, try to forget me and just move on

So will you scatter my ashes where they won't be found?
I kept my word and you hate me for it now
But you knew all along, try to forget me and just move on

Oh, my dear what have I gone and done now?
It's curtain call, I'm about to take my last bow
What did you expect from me?
What did you expect from me?

Without giving away the entire ending
I ruined the evening again

So will you scatter my ashes where they won't be found?
I kept my word when I swore that I would let you down
And now that I'm gone, try to forget me and just move on

So will you scatter my ashes where they won't be found?
I kept my word and you hate me for it now
But you knew all along, try to forget me and just move on

I don't have love left inside, inside
And I don't have love left inside, inside

Are you desperate for an answer?
I don't have an ounce of good left in me now
That's why I walked out

So will you scatter my ashes where they won't be found?
I kept my word when I swore that I would let you down
And now that I'm gone, try to forget me and just move on

So will you scatter my ashes where they won't be found?
I kept my word and you hate me for it now
You hate me for it now, try to forget me and just move on

I am not the one that you should blame
So take what I left you for the pain
I am not the one that you should blame

So take what I left you for the pain
And do your best to forget my name

Overall Meaning

In "Calling All Cars," Senses Fail simulates how love can be an affliction that ultimately leads to destruction. The lyrics talk about deceiving individuals, the inevitability of failure, and acceptance of the blame. The song starts with the singer acknowledging his love for someone has become an affliction in which he describes himself as "another victim." This could suggest that he is a victim of his own doing, where his love has led to his ruin.

The lyrics develop to explain that the singer has lied to his partner from the very beginning. It seems like he has made a confession, which could signify an admission of guilt. When he asks, "What did you expect from me?" it shows that he views himself as a failure and that he knows he hasn't been the best partner. He recognizes that his choices will eventually lead to the end of the relationship, and so he asks that his ashes to scatter where they won't be found.

The last part of the song begins with the singer noticing the end of the relationship, which he equates to a dramatic scene. He knows things will end badly, and he feels like he has no love left inside of him. The song ends with him telling his partner to blame him, take what he left behind, and try to forget his name.

I have a feeling im a good bit older than you, but I just wanted to say... YES. I also did not have an emotional troubling childhood, and the only problems I dealth with during my teen years, I caused myself. Mostly because of a girl.

But, fucking Senses Fail man, jesus fuck. Now, I do want to put it out there, I dont like their newest stuff. Well.. Not that I dont like it, but it doesnt do it for me like their earlier stuff does.

For me, the best senses fail albums are
1-From the Depths of Dreams
2-Let it Enfold you
3-Still Searching

Honestly, they';re all #1 for me, but From the Depths of Dreams, the original EP, is just so fucking epic on its own.. The song that got me into Senses Fail, is Free Falling with a Parachute. I remember where I was and who I was with when I heard it.. and I THINK it was the end of the summer, 2002, just before I was about to start highschool.

Since you like Senses Fail.. You like TBS? Brand New? Thursday? Much as I love Senses fail, I like Taking Back Sunday even more. Favorite band right there.

(and yes, I fully aware of the fact that Im 30 and the music I listen to is all old post-hardcore/Emo-Rock from the early 00s.. but whatever.
