The Atlanta quintet strikes a delicate balance between energetic heaviness and melodic hypnosis on its full-length debut album for Imagen Records, 'Dream Eater,' released on October 2, 2015, and produced by James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Hands Like Houses, Dashboard Confessional).
Comprised of Will Crafton - vocals, Myles Priest - guitar, Tyler Whitfield - guitar, Brenden Worthington - bass, and Thomas Pinson - drums, it turns out that the band's name has a special meaning to its members.
"The name was something we all agreed on instinctually, at the same time, admits Will. "In the literal sense, sometimes you need to separate yourself from the things that keep you grounded and are comfortable in order to succeed. That was the main message we wanted to convey.”
Merging soaring hooks, snapping guitars, and electronic murmurs, the band captured those dynamics in the studio, and this energy resonates from song to song remaining ever present on the title track and first single (released July 29th), "Dream Eater."
“The concept was initially a little cryptic,” explains Will. “The idea is you work so hard for something just to have it taken away. There’s that inner battle in the human mind like, ‘Am I good enough?’ Everyone has a light and dark side. The doubt manifests in the form of this creature we’ll refer to as the ‘Dream Eater’. The protagonist and the monster are embroiled in this battle we all go through.”
Each Separations performance remains unpredictable, making for an unforgettable experience every time these five musicians hit the stage - which will be on display when the band hits the road in 2016 September and October alongside Nothing More, Marmozets, and Turbowolf, as part of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour.
“As long as we form a connection with anyone listening to the music, then we’re accomplishing what we set out to do,” concludes Will.
The time is coming to unite with Separations.

How could you forsaken the
Blood you[?]
I can't loose you now
Over my cause, for myself
[? 13-18] ...well not much has changed
I can see the end of the uni-
You not believe I'm standing here and I feel the same
So it's time that we stop fighting
I know but it's time to realize that we are
Running out of time
I picture the other side
Running before I die
Together [?] and the fight is won
You have seen my fall from grace, and I-
Will not believe this is the only path that I can take
All of the others now seem so far away
I can't forget my past
Even though time has past
Your blood is my blood
And you will always be my brother
I could strike you down
For what you did to me
You left me broken and bleeding you
([?])
Empty inside
Before your
Blood of my blood
How could you forsaken the
Blood you[?]
I can't loose you now
Over my cause, for myself
Blood of my blood
How could you forsaken the
Blood you[?]
I can't loose you now
Over my cause, for myself
You have seen my fall from grace, and I-
Will not believe this is the only path that I can take
All of the others now seem so far away
I can't forget my past
Even though time has past
Your blood is my blood
And you will always be my brother
Brother
You will
Always
Be my
Brother
The lyrics of "Brother" by Separations talk about the bond between brothers, and how the singer feels devastated because his brother has left him. He is struggling to come to terms with the fact that he lost his brother, and can't seem to move on. In the lyrics, he mentions that he can see the end of unity, and believes that time is running out. The singer reflects on a time when he feels like he has lost his way, and he thought his brother was to blame because he left him broken and bleeding.
The lyrics suggest that the singer is angry and hurt with his brother for leaving him but deep down, he still loves him and considers him family. Even though things may seem tough, he is not willing to let go of his brother, and he accepts that they share the same blood. In the end, he realizes that his brother will always be a part of him, and no matter what happens, their bond is unbreakable.

Lyrics so i can sing along whenever i'm laying lazily in bed
I'm gonna keep on living
Even though I sometimes do
Fantasize about disappearing
Down in the ocean blue
Just to get some peace and quiet
From the warfare inside my heart
Well I've been under ear-splitting fire
Ever since we've been apart
Well I'm gonna wash the dishes
Pay the bills and watch the news
I've got the tough education
No celebration
Divorce separation blues
Yodel eh hee yodelo lodi lay he yodel lay he
Well I'm gonna keep on waking
And rising up before the sun
And lying in the dark wide awake
When everybody else is done
And sleeping in their beds so peaceful
Dreaming with the love they choose
I've got the tough education
No celebration
Divorce separation blues
Yodel eh hee yodelo lodi lay he yodel lay he
And I'll sign on
The line beneath my name
The road is gone
I can't go back the way we came
Well neither one of us
Really wanna hear the town
We try to keep our friends at bay
Try to keep the gossip down
Well some folks just want the dirt
And don't even care if it's true
But then again who cares who's talking
I'm worried for myself and you
And I'll sign on
The line beneath my name
The road is gone
I can't go back the way we came
They say one of every two
Bound to be set aflame
Every level of resentment
Responsibility and blame
Well now I'm bound to break a promise
One I made to God and you
I've got the tough education
No celebration
Divorce separation blues
I've got the tough education
No celebration
Bad communication
Worse interpretation
Love deprivation
Pain allocation
Soul devastation
Cold desolation
Life complication
Resuscitation
