There's nobody you can show
I saw you pulled out of s stone
Somebody took them away
And morning you forget
Like your memories erased
Too many days turning into nights
Searching for a reason to escape
Its easier when the truth just walks away
Neighbors won't look you in the eye
There goes old man Billy Joe
Can't believe he is till alive
There is a old bag of bones
Always talking to himself
Doesn't know he is alone
Too many days turning into nights
To many wrongs turning into rights
Searching for a reason to escape
Its easier when the truth just walks away
Went to the river to lay
Found my body on the ground
Found my hole up in the sky
There s no more to life than a day
Took me buried in the ground
Now you'll never hear me say
Too many days turning into nights
Too many wrongs turning into rights
Searching for a reason to escape
Its easy when the truth just walks away
Too many days turning in to nights
Too many wrongs turning into rights
Searching for a reason to escape
Its easy when the truth just walks away
Walk on
Its just walks away
In Serena Ryder's song "Truth," she addresses themes of isolation, anxiety, and the search for truth. The opening lyrics, "Wake up there is nobody home / There's nobody you can show / I saw you pulled out of stone / Somebody took them away," paint a picture of a person who feels disconnected from the world around them. They are unable to share their experiences with others, and they have lost parts of themselves that were once important. The line "Morning you forget / Like your memories erased" suggests that the person may be struggling with memory loss, a symptom often associated with anxiety.
The chorus, "Too many days turning into nights / Too many wrongs turning into rights / Searching for a reason to escape / Its easier when the truth just walks away," speaks to the idea of avoidance. The person in the song is looking for a way to escape their problems, and it is easier to ignore the truth than to confront it head-on. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that this is an ongoing struggle for the person.
The second verse introduces the idea of social isolation, as the person is avoided by their neighbors and sees an old man who seems to have lost everything. The line "Its easy when the truth just walks away" takes on a different meaning in this verse, as it suggests that the truth of the old man's situation has been ignored by those around him. The bridge, "Went to the river to lay / Found my body on the ground / Found my hole up in the sky / There s no more to life than a day / Took me buried in the ground / Now you'll never hear me say," is a stark reminder of our own mortality and emphasizes that it is important to face our problems and seek truth in our lives before it's too late.
