[Music - Chuck, Chippe, Lyrics - Chuck]

Murder is on your mind
Your life is worth the pain
Standing tall in a world of
Madness animosity
Hatred, what you feel from inside
Your heart is covered with filth
This is what you want to seek
From your peoples lives

Lust for the power
Greed for money
Steal there lives
Stay in hell

Power, is just a battery
Soon everything, break your policy
Terminating your world of
Supreme destinies
Innocence, already dead inside of you
For lust you take no prisoner
This is just another game
Invented you murderer

Lust for the power
Greed for money
Steal there lives
Stay in hell

Son of evil
You raped this land
Marching with the devils
Raising the flag of injustice
Son of deception
You play with every mind
The language you speak it's always lies

Murder is on your mind
Your life is worth the pain
Standing tall in a world of
Madness animosity
Hatred, what you feel from inside
Your heart is covered with filth
This is what you want to seek
From your peoples lives

Lust for the power
Greed for money
Steal there lives
Stay in hell

Time will come
For you to fall

Crucify your name
To slay your soul

Overall Meaning

The song "Murder" by Serenity Dies is a commentary on power struggles and the insidious nature of greed. The song begins with the assertion that murder is on the mind of the singer, and that their own life is worth the pain of taking others’. They stand tall in a world of madness and animosity, consumed by the hatred that they feel inside. The singer's heart is "covered with filth," which is what they seek to bring to the lives of their people.

This lust for power and greed for money is all-encompassing for this character. The lyrics suggest that they are willing to "steal their lives" to maintain their hold on power. The chorus of the song repeats the lines "lust for power, greed for money, steal their lives, stay in hell." The lyrics suggest that this character’s fate has already been predetermined. They are a "son of evil" who has already "raped this land." By raising the flag of injustice, the character is marching hand in hand with the devils.

The song ends with a warning: time will come for this character to fall. The lyrics suggest that they will cease to exist in any meaningful way, that their name will be crucified, and their soul slain. The song suggests that no amount of power or wealth can protect this character from their ultimate fate.

This scene says a lot about Jayne too. For all his faults, when Mal tells him to secure everyone else, he does, taking the time to verify they were secure before himself. He’s a mercenary jerk, but not irredeemable.

He's a mercenary and betrayed him twice but not personally Mal. I think Mal is like big brother for him. He respects him and he is afraid of him.He can argue with him. But they are family

@KnuckleHunkybuck

That's what made Firefly great. Everyone was a character, not a caricature. The scene where he betrayed Mal and thought that Mal was going to flush him out the airlock, he asked him to lie to the crew about how he died because he didn't want the shame of them knowing he betrayed them. That's not how a hack writer would ever write a villainous mercenary.

@corpsegrinder88

I was anticipating his character continuation development cause I loved his charc but of course they canceled

@Calzaki

He didn't even have to tell him what to do, he just said his name and Jayne knew what was expected and did the right thing

@henlolimbo5088

There are folk songs about the man!

A moment in the movie that still wrecks me is when the crew gets the news that Wash ain't coming and Inara and Kaylee immediately look to Zoey with horror and empathy on their faces and Zoey is just loading her gun with a dead face. You could see in that moment what Wash brought to her life and what could never be replaced. That moment just still cracks me open.

@sandansaiyan5675

She wanted revenge and she hadn't cared if she survived or not

@GuukanKitsune

@Sandan Saiyan She had nothing to live for. But she did have something to die for.
