Sans toi
Serge Lama Lyrics

In Serge Lama's song "Sans Toi," the singer describes feelings of imprisonment and loss after a relationship has ended. The autumn wind rustling through trees, the silent piano, and the memory of the person he loved all contribute to his sense of solitude. Even though he tries to suppress these feelings or express them, he cannot escape the emptiness that is left when the person he loves is gone.
The second verse, which mentions rain-swept sidewalks and the memory of his lover hindering his belief in God, adds to the emotional intensity of the song. The allusion to Christmas bells ringing regardless of whether the singer's lover will return or not highlights the sense of sadness and loneliness that he feels during festive times.
The last verse describes the scene of snowfall outside as harrowing, along with the old piano, and a voice that fades, as if adrift on the sea. The singer admits that there is a mystery somewhere in the world, where another person may be his new companion, but the conclusion remains bleak. The song ends with the realization that without his lover, he is totally lost and there is no hope of redemption.
